Booked via the Fork. The service was really good and polite. The menu has a lot of different alternatives and can satisfy everyone. One negative note: the meat was lacking any sauce. The meat itself was great but having a dip would have been greet. The side was instead a salad. The mango lassi was great. Portions are also generous.
I ordered Butter chicken and Jalfrezi with chicken..... frozen food ??? Jelliesh texture!! Tasteless!! This isn't Indian food.... never again... if I could give zero rating I would happily do that.. seriously waste of money !
Ordered directly from restaurant with fantastic customer service which is always a bonus at the start, I have ordered from here previously but forgot to rate. The food itself has left me lost for words, beautifully selected meats, which is full fresh and fragrant ingredients. The rice dishes where flavoursome, fluffy and none of the dishes consisted of any excess oils. Purely delicious, with passion and love for what they do. Compliments to the team and the chef in particular. Support local businesses, support direct orders. This will definitely be a reorder fortnightly for me and my family. Thank you shikara
We were a little bit suspicious looking at these old reviews, fortunately we trusted the fork and we had our dinner in this restaurant! Everything was great and delicious, great quality/price ratio and the owner was really nice and helpful with us! I think these reviews are not related to what we experienced at all, possibly old! Me and my fiancée would definitely recommend this Indian restaurant
Don't trust the staff! Cell phone was stolen due staff negligence My girlfriend was visiting London around March 2020 and she had dinner with a friend at Shikara. She asked a member of the staff if she could charge her phone behind the counter — which they gracefully allowed. When it came time to leave, she asked another staff member for her phone back — but it was gone. The security camera footage revealed that the original staffer had given my girlfriend's phone to another guest who was accompanying someone in a wheelchair, and they accepted the phone without making a scene. Were they in on it? We didn't think so initially, but now we think it's a good a guess as any. We called the Met police who reviewed the security camera footage with us. We were expecting the restaurant owners to cooperate with us to either 1 track down the customer who had taken the phone, or 2 the staffer who had given it away, or 3 offer some type of reimbursement. They did none of the above and soon stopped responding to our inquiries. The Met police stopped their investigation because we're not UK residents. We feel wronged and sad the Shikara staff did so little when faced with the results of their own negligence.
We have been ordering directly from Shikara for years and it has always been nothing but delicious. Lamb rogan josh and chicken shaslick are so good, very flavourful! Their delivery is also punctual. Totally recommend!
My partner and I ate here on Friday evening and disappointed with the food was an understatement!!! My partner had a prawn Biryani which wasn't all rice it had been mixed with something similar to cous cous which I know isn't part of the dish and it had absoulutly no flavour either!! I ordered a chicken Rogan Josh which I've had many times in various resturantswhich is the worst I've ever had! It had no flavour, no and clearly a tin of tomatoes poured over it. The decor was nice and clean but very claustrophobic once other diners arrived.
While they tried their best. It's simply not good. The naan was not crispy. The rice felt overcooked. The chicken tikka masala lacked any flavour other then chilli. And when that was removed lacked any flavour or consistency. The sauce was more paste then curry. Never ever again.
I love this place, when I use to work nearby we use to order from them all the time. So I vowed I will go back and eat inside. It didn’t disappoint. The naga bhuna is probably the most spicest thing I’ve ever tried. I love it and their lamb chops. I will be visiting again today:
Worst indian food experience. An absolute travesty. Its new years eve, unfortunately relied on deliveroo rating which put Shikara as its highest rated Indian restaurant and what a tasteless, bland, undercooked uninspiring meal. It is an insult to Indian food. Total waste of my money and the deliveroo driver’s time. Never, ever again. Ever.
