Story

What started out as one woman’s nostalgia for her favorite hometown eats soon turned into one of New York’s most popular eateries. The Kati Roll Company started in 2000 in New York’s Greenwich Village and now has five locations in Manhattan, as well as one across the pond in London, England.

TKRC is the brainchild of female entrepreneur, Payal Saha, originally from Kolkata, India. She started the business with a very simple concept, “I tremendously missed Kati Rolls, and there weren’t any in New York when I first moved here,” she remembers, “I just wanted to have a place where I could enjoy Kolkata’s street foods. I thought if I missed it so much, other people must too.”

With its warm paratha’s (or alternate whole wheat roti) wrapped around various spice laden fillings, the aromatic rolls have turned many hungry folks into bonafide TKRC devotees, some traveling across state lines to satisfy their kati roll fix.

Veg or non-veg, South Asian or not, the one thing that TKRC fans have in common is their desire for fresh and easy food, so much so that they are willing to wait in sometimes long lines for the soul-satisfying fare. Really nice place, authentic food. Also a little shack like decor, have put really good effort in it. It's a great place to grab a snack when wandering around Soho/oxford street. Prices also super reasonable!

I like that they put effort in creating an "India" vibe, as if we space travelled to somewhere in India. We ordered No. 3 and No. 4 thanks to a kind customer who explained the menu to us. Very tasty rolls and tea. They don't serve sweet rolls thought.

Absolutely delicious rolls. Used to frequent it before the pandemic. Missed it so much that took a takeaway after a year!! They still got it! Just as yummy as I remembered.

Ideal for a single person that wants a quick lunch or dinner at £10. I’ve been there a few times in the past, and tried several kinds or rolls, the juicy chicken tikka and tangy stir-fried beef are good. However, the roll is small, we usually buy 2 rolls per person plus a drink.

A very simple concept. Paratha with a choice of filling. There is an authentic Asian taste to the food. Service was very quick. The prices were very reasonable; a good spot for a quick lunch or take away. The venue needs to be cleaned, was a little concerned by the cleanliness. Perhaps a freshening up of the decor.

Real Indian taste. Isn't the charming place type but to go with a group of friends before a night out it's ok, or because you find yourself hungry walking around Oxford street, highly recommended.

It’s a hidden gem. I make sure to go there whenever I’m in Oxford street. Love love their rolls and their lassi is absolutely lovely

OMG &lt;3 Loved this place. Food is very tasty, whenever i fond to eat some desi food stuff, i love to go there and eat one of my favorite dish which i wish to eat every time. Big thumbs up for The Kati Roll Company :

Fab little hidden restaurant serving delicious Indian wraps. One is the perfect snack and I thoroughly recommend the paneer one. Friendly staff and fast service. It has even remained open for takeaway during the corona lockdown.
