Haven't stayed there but been there enough times to have lunch on weekdays and once on a weekend. Lunch has a variety of choices - fish, chicken, lamb, veg but mostly same from one day to the next. Food is tasty but all of it is spicy. If you go there thinking you could have something mild, forget it. If you ask chefs standing there what's mild, they will say everything is mild and "you can have it" as if they would know. I was expecting mild to be something like "one chilli" when you buy a pack of curry from supermarket but it is actually 3 chillies. I have been to a number of times last year and finally decided to stop going there after I had a number of lunches with sweat dripping down my head. I made a mistake again today and just left the lunch half-eaten after spending 19 pounds on lamb curry, daal, bhaji, appam, and lassi. Even buttermilk has chillies in them, don't know why! Of course for many people, Indian food is about having lots of spice and that's about it and it will be good for them.
It’s OK. The food is tasty and authentic, but it used to be a real bargain. Now £20 at the weekend and it is a self service canteen where you even need to clean your own trays. Sadly not quite the hidden gem it used to be, although the outside terrace is a lovely shady spot on a sunny day.
I went to restaurant on Sunday morning for breakfast. They have set menu and have dosa on every Sunday. Dosas were authentically and properly prepared and served with Aalu masala and different chutneys. A must visit for authentic South Indian breakfast on Sunday.Service: 5/5
Its location is very good ! I found the front desk staff is very unwelcoming and unpleasant. Poor students don't have much choices since its location is very good. I found YWCA in Chennai is lot better than the London YMCA. Walkability: centrally located.
Open to the public. Fabulous no-frills authentic Indian food - breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Cheap prices for zone 1 London.Rooms: 5/5
The only place that does justice to Indian cuisine. Lovely taste and portions. Great location. Accommodative staff.Rooms: 5/5
Hidden gem, but go here for lunch. It's so good.
YMCA Indian London offers a delightful experience with great food and a warm atmosphere. Situated in the heart of the city, it's easily accessible with excellent transportation links. The friendly staff creates a homely ambiance, attracting a diverse crowd of students and professionals. Overall, a fantastic spot for delicious meals and a welcoming vibe.
