Had an appointment with Mrs Kadeen today and she was really amazing. She did a great job reassuring me about the procedure and made me feel so much better. She really is a gold standard healthcare professional and deserves a special thank you for an amazing job today. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
I recently visited my GP because I experienced a sudden increase in blood pressure during a highly stressful situation. I have a documented history of PTSD and anxiety, which significantly affects my physical health. Unfortunately, this context was completely disregarded, and I was immediately prescribed antihypertensive medication without any proper investigation or consideration of the underlying cause.nI did not take the medication. Instead, I paid for private tests, which confirmed that I do not require blood pressure treatment. The thought that I could have been placed on unnecessary lifelong medication is extremely worrying and deeply undermines my trust in the care I received.nThis is not the first time my symptoms and medical history have been dismissed at this practice.nPatients deserve to be listened to, assessed thoroughly and treated with care — not rushed into unnecessary medication that could cause more harm than good.nnI would also like to clarify that I have no prejudice against anyone. My concern is about fair and equal treatment. Last month, I arrived with my children for our scheduled appointment at 9:15am. Another parent and child, who told me their appointment was later than ours, were called into the consultation room before us. The doctor clearly took them first, despite our earlier appointment time.nnThis situation made me feel that we were treated as less important without any explanation. I strongly believe that all patients — regardless of background — should be treated equally and according to the appointment order. Unfortunately, this experience suggested that the opposite may be happening.
Unfortunately, I have very similar feelings to the previous commenter. I tried to book an appointment for my 3-year-old son to see a doctor, but I was told that I must first take him to a pharmacist — even though I informed the receptionist that he has had a dry cough for more than two weeks. I wasn’t even given the chance to finish explaining that last month he had a chest infection which was treated with antibiotics.nnI honestly wonder — what can a pharmacist do in this situation? Recommend the same cough syrup we have already been using for a long time, which has brought no improvement?nnA cough that lasts for weeks in such a young child, especially following a more serious chest infection, should not be dismissed. In my opinion, it clearly requires proper medical assessment by a doctor.nnEDIT: Thank you for your reply. However, I would like to emphasise that the situation I reported involved a young child with a persistent cough following a chest infection. A cough lasting for several weeks in a 3-year-old, especially after requiring antibiotics, should not be treated as one of the “seven minor conditions” that pharmacists are able to manage.nBefore leaving a public review, most parents — including myself — always try to get help directly from the medical practice. Unfortunately, despite providing all the information, my concerns were dismissed and my child was not given any medical assessment by a doctor. This lack of support is exactly what forces patients to seek help elsewhere and to voice their concerns publicly.nI fully support the expansion of pharmacy services, but they cannot replace a GP consultation when there is a risk of complications or a prolonged symptom in a very young child. In such cases, proper medical assessment is needed — not being redirected without consideration.nI sincerely hope the practice will start to distinguish cases that clearly require a doctor’s intervention, rather than directing patients away by default.
Excellent service here in this grand old building. Three local surgeries combine in their use of this building as their medical centre, including specialist services, on the first floor. Regular GPs, chemist, on the ground floor.nParking can get a little squeezed but the centre is surrounded by leafy avenues offering plenty of free parking.
