I am very pleased with the care provided by the doctors and nurses at Shelley manor. I seem to be able to get appointments when needed especially for my children and personally have been taken seriously when very ill. A lot of the reception staff are also friendly and happy to help and don’t make you feel guilty for phoning. The online method of submitting a query/concern is easy to use and they are very responsive through this channel which is excellent.
I have belonged to this practice for 32 years. I have been happy with the service l have received. When my GP retired after being my doctor for many years l felt a little anxious. But need not have worried, as all the doctors l have been kind, helpful and efficient. The practice nurses have been caring and professional too. Thank you Shelley Manor.
Doctors and nurses are great, only issue I have is trying to make an appointment over the phone long queue times and waiting times for appointments. Most my experiences have been good and would recommend. They have an E-consult option on their website and I’ve found this generally quicker to use for small issues as doctors get back to you quickly and if need be book you in ASAP for an appointment that day.
I can’t thank the Dr Savage and Tracey the nurse whom both gave my mum amazing care after she had a stroke, I felt they knew her and personally took time to help her. I was so impressed I’ve moved to now be registered at Shelley Manor - reception staff are great and from my own experience all the staff, doctors and nurses work really hard but still give you a personal service when attending the practice- thank you Sarah
I moved to Bournemouth in 2011 and was pleasantly surprised to be in the Shelly Manor catchment area. The building is beautiful and holds all you mental and physical health needs. There is also a dentist and pharmacy located within the building which is great! I have always found the staff to be courteous and professional, the pandemic put everyone in a hyper vigilant and anxious state of mind, but, Shelly Manor rose to the challenge and my health needs were catered for. Their rapid response to continue via telephone calls as opposed to face to face visits was commendable and whilst they were under horrific pressure they went above and beyond. I was impressed and humbled how these amazing people fought on bravely through one of the worst traumatic events I have witnessed in my lifetime. Adapting to the new laws was swift and managed adeptly. Whilst I may have had to have queued for a while, I adapted too and praise those that were kind, patient and caring in the face of an incredible challenge. Thank you to all the staff and Dr's who continued to provide a service in the face of great adversity. You deserve a medal.
I have been registered with Shelley Manor for a few years now and whenever I have seen the doctors or nurses they have been great. The same as everywhere at the moment a quick appointment for non-emergency appointment are a few weeks, but whenever myself or my family have needed an urgent appointment, I have at least had a phone call with 48 hours, so very happy with their services. I recommend this surgery.
I have noticed an improvement within the surgery over the last few years, receptionists often get attacked, that's is often because a patient does not get to hear what they consider to be right for them, they forget that when a surgery has thousands of patients a one size fits all approach is not possible. I have found receptionists such as Anna has replied and been as helpful as she is able to be under the rules, and in the main reception is good, one lady however does need to work on her empathy and interaction skills in terms of fronting a desk, I have found doctors recently seen to be listening professional and understanding of my personal situation it's often difficult for a doctor when like myself you throw in 100 ailments at once overall I have seen an improvement in general service, when you take into account many factors, maybe staff should give honest feedback about patients, after all none of us are perfect
Always found the staff from receptionists through to GPs really helpful, understanding and competent. And their use of e-consults and messaging for follow up really good to keep informed/when appointments not available.
Only give 1 star as can't post review! I've got covid I'm ahsmatic and receptionist told me she's unsure if I can get a new inhaler as I've not been issued one since December last year! I told her that's because I had to go private to get 1 in time! And you've provided me with Preventative inhalers since then!! But have to wait until tomorrow to see if doctor approves it!!! . Seriously!!
Yes there is a queueing system for phone calls and often a long time on hold, but this is a busy practice with many patients so to be expected.Once through to reception I've found them helpful - duty doctor called me back and arranged hospital referral. Other than that I've only had appointments with nurse for flu jabs and blood tests but all arranged promptly and reminders sent by text.
