Great service - filter coffee is one the best in UK. The ambience seemed a bit loud / too bright and over the top. Rather expensive but. Quality of food for the price did not meet expectations but will come back for the coffee. Edit: just noticed that they silently added a 10% service charge to the bill. Not worth it.
Firstly I’d like to say that the food here is incredibly authentic and delicious! 10/10 on that part. Additionally the location is fantastic as it is in Trafalgar Square with all the main attractions around. However the atmosphere could be improved as the aesthetics of the restaurant aren’t incredibly appealing. What would be great would be a new sign and maybe some decorations. Other than this minor detail everything else is lovely!
This is the best South Indian meal i had outside India. The food and service was just amazing. Had the following items 1 Medhu Wada dipped in Sambar 2 Idly chutey dipped 3 Podi Dosa 5 Ghee Rava dosa 6 Mango Lassi All of them were brilliant but the best amongst all was Ghee Rava Dosa!
I had never tried South Indian food, so I decided to visit Arya Bhavan. We started with their Special Podi Idli, Paya Idli, and Honey Chilli Potato. Then we tried the Seven Spicy Cheese, Crispy Lollipop, and momos. I always wanted to try an authentic South Indian dosa, so I tried the Masala Dosa and Ragi Dosa. After that, we had the Chettinad Rava and Vegetable Uthappam For the main course, we had Chilli Gobi with kulcha, sweet corn, and golden fried rice with bhindi do pyaza and Arya Bhavans's Special Biryani . If you like sweets, Arya Bhavan has their own variety of sweets too If you are a vegetarian and looking for authentic South Indian food in central London.
We had food for 2, we tried the dosa and puri and it was very nice. As a South Indian myself I approve 7/10Food: 4/5
Arya Bhavan the Veg Paradise in Central London. Its a ild Sarvana Bhavan shop now named as Arya Bhavan. Space is crowded and table space is also very narrow. Food quality and quantity both are great. If you are a tourist and in around Leicester Sq, Piccadilly Sq, Trafalgar Sq or Covent Garden … do find this gem. Do not try non south indian food. Its as usual not good. Overall a great experience and friendly staff. Will visit here again and again…
South Indian food was good - especially the South Indian Thali. North Indian, Chinese Fried Rice was a miss. Chocolate Dosa with rose Ice cream was a good treat.Food: 3/5
This place is OK, Dosa was OK, Idli came out cold. Nothing spectacular. Service was painfully slow. There are much better South Indian eateries in London, just not so centrally located. Vegetarian options: All vegetarian
I recently visited Arya Bhavan, which was formerly Saravana Bhavan until about a month ago. The place gets quite crowded in the evenings and on weekends, so we had to wait outside for 20 to 25 minutes after giving our names. Fortunately, they had some chairs on the sidewalk, which made the wait a bit more comfortable. The menu is displayed outside, allowing us to decide what to order in advance and avoid a long wait once seated. They offer both South and North Indian entrées at reasonable prices. There are two other Indian restaurants nearby: Maharaja and Indian Street Food. We ordered Gobi Manchurian, which was underwhelming. The Sambar Vada was served on a plate instead of in a bowl, which was disappointing. The Ghee Dosa was good, but the South Indian Thali was a letdown. Despite being described as unlimited, we didn’t receive any refills. The Chapati that came with the Thali was overly crispy, almost like a pappad, and the Thali lacked any vegetable curry. It included facilities like kurma, rasam, sambar, channa, raita, yogurt, pickle, and a sweet. If you're a fan of Thali, I wouldn’t recommend it. Overall, the food was average, perhaps because I had high expectations for a vegetarian restaurant. The waitstaff were very busy, rushing around to serve food on time and clean tables quickly to accommodate the people waiting outside. Despite the hustle and bustle, the restaurant remained clean. I would give it three stars, but no more than that.
Order Number: 9DB56 Date: 18th October, 2024 I ordered two items yesterday: Paneer Butter Cheese Masala Dosa and Palak Paneer Cheese Dosa. Today, I discovered a "small piece of glass" in the Palak Paneer Cheese Dosa. Is this the kind of service you provide after customers pay good money for food? This is extremely dangerous and could seriously harm someone's health or even life. Unacceptable!
