Rooms a little dated but still very good. Views from the front of the hotel excellent. Lounge very modern and nicely laid out as is breakfast/dinner room. Parking outside quite difficult. Breakfast may not be included and was not made clear over the telephone when I booked, which the manager then struggles to resolve with the staff. Overall a nice place to stay.

Nice hotel, in a good position on the front at Sandown, be aware there are steps, lots of steps, theres also a lift but a warning on it saying not to use unless you need to !! Its a bit like being in a horror film, it clunks and crashes but I didn't die so it cant be that bad. Theres a good bar, lots of open space to relax in if you don't want to stay in your room. Our room overlooked Sandown high street so was a bit noisy at night with all the boy racers driving around testing their stereos but it wasn't a problem. The room itself was large enough, had plenty of hot water, coffee and tea also provided free in the room. The room was lovely and warm even though it was freezing outside. Theres a fantastic pool downstairs, it wasn't the warmest but was just ok, the jacuzzi was lovely and warm but unfortunately there was no changing facilities we could find. Theres also a full size snooker table and a couple of pool tables. Parking can be an issue, there are some spaces outside the hotel but its very easy to get blocked in or your car damaged because of the tiny spaces. Im disabled and struggled to find a space, one evening I had to park in the town centre and walk back to the hotel. Would I go again ? Yes if they would have me !!

***WARNING - If you cannot manage steps or stairs at all, this is probably not the hotel for you (more details to follow). *** Location and layout: The hotel is situated right on the seafront in Sandown. There is a road in front of the hotel but it is a very quiet road, one-way. It's a pleasant walking distance to the pier, with seating the entire way along for anyone who needs to rest regularly. The high street is situated behind the hotel but is up a steep hill. The hotel reception is accessed from an entrance on the seafront. It has a few steps leading to the doors but no ramp access. The doors are also not automatic so need to be held open. The reception is separated from the rest of the hotel by a full flight of stairs, however staff are happy to take your luggage up to your room for you so you don't have to struggle. There is an exit out onto the high street via the lounge that means you can avoid the steep hills, ask at reception for the key, it is a £10 returnable deposit. There are various short flights of steps all over the hotel, in the corridors, the lounge and the dining area and not all of them have grab rails. Anyway enough of the accessibilty details. :-) Staff: The staff are lovely and friendly here and always keen to help. Service everywhere is good. Food and drink: Breakfasts and evening meals are available at the hotel. They can either be pre-booked when you book the hotel or you can book them through reception on an ad-hoc basis if you prefer. For residents, breakfasts are £10 each a day, 3-course dinner is £13. You can invite non-residents along for dinner if you wish but the cost of their meal will be higher. If you prebook a meal plan (i.e breakfast every day) you will be allocated a table and that will be your table for the duration of your stay. Ad-hoc bookings may differ. The food is nice, with a good choice. Breakfast is not buffet-style, you choose off a menu. The lounge bar is reasonably-priced for drinks with a good choice of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Rooms: I had a lovely double room with a balcony and sea view. The furniture is all fully matching and good quality, although the decor is a little dated. The pillows are very soft but because I have a double room to myself, I'm using 3 pillows which is just right for me. Spare pillows are kept in the wardrobe, not sure whether Reception can provide more or not. The hotel is very environmentally conscious, they do not change your towels at all but request you hang them up instead. They only change your bedlinen after the 4th night on request from you. The guest information book and do not disturb sign can be found in the drawer of the dressing table if they're not on view in your room. I didn't find them until the following day, LOL. Facilities: There is an indoor pool situated next to reception. It is open between 8am and 8pm, you have to sign in at reception, they can provide a towel if you haven't brought one. There is no attendant. Children are not permitted in the pool area without an adult present, and adults are not allowed to swim alone. In the lounge there is a coin-operated pool/snooker table (not sure which) available. In the winter, there is no evening entertainment available in the hotel so I cannot comment on that. On the whole, it's a good, peaceful hotel for a relaxing break, I would consider coming again.

Parking awful. Room number to be left in car and people knock on your door if they are blocked in. Reception tell you to block people in!!!! 33 parking spaces 3 cars deep. I had to move my car 5 times until things got quiet around midnight. After being awake for 36 hours I was looking forward to an early night but no such luck due to constantly moving the car. Crazy system that I have never seen before!!!! Reception staff very, very, very rude when I questioned parking. Room was ok and location was awesome. Just a shame on parking and service received. This hotel does not have any form of customer complaints system. As a hospitality trainer I find this very strange. Your feedback is not welcome. I will not return better options available.
