Yesterday I had one of the best pork belly of my life. I went for a Sunday roast in this lovely place and I enjoyed every detail of it. The restaurant side it’s well maintained, cozy and traditional. The service was warm and welcoming, The bartender, the lady and the young guy at the restaurant all of them were exceptional! The place has a big wine list but I opted for a beer which was okay, when the Sunday roast arrived I was surprised! The meat was just perfect, the Yorkshire pudding was also very good. I will recommend this place to my colleagues in Dubai ! Thank you
Great ‘proper English’ pub, we went after travelling for a long time to Manchester, and got some starters to share. Guinness was very fresh and cold and the portion sizes were amazing. Staff were super helpful and attentive.
Great place for a pint of Guinness and their fish and chips is very good. Steak and kidney pudding is also worth a try. Gets a little crowded from around 4pm. Staff are very friendly and seem like one of the more popular pubs in the city. Worth a trip down as it’s just a few minutes walk from the city center.Food: 5/5
I wanted to try a traditional British restaurant and my coworker made reservations here. It didn’t disappoint! I had what I’m sure is the most delicious corned beef hash I will have, the service was impeccable, and the atmosphere warm and cozy.Food: 5/5
The food was lovely but the service we received really let it down. We asked for a drink menu and once given it it only had wines inside so we asked if they had other drinks available as we don’t drink wine to which the waitress responded rudely “what do you need to know” my partner asked for ales and she said they didn’t have any and then realised they did… she didn’t come across very friendly. It would be much easier if they was a drinks menu for all kinds of drinks rather than made to feel like you’re putting the waitress out by asking for alternatives drinks. She also made it very clear in the restaurant she was not happy about moving tables around to accommodate for people who hadn’t booked. This just ruined the experience for us.
Mar 2024 - Great to still see a traditional pub in Manchester serving great draught beers and ciders. Good atmosphere with a brilliant statue of Lowry sat at the bar! Will definitely be trying the food next time we visit. Aug 2024 - Four months after my original review I've had to down grade my score after booking a table for my Birthday last Sunday. To begin with the welcome was disappointing as we were greeted with 'sorry it's not the best table', not what you want to hear on arrival after actually making a reservation days in advance. Drinks and main meals were served OK until the lady who cleared our plates had obviously been for a cigarette and smelt of very strong acrid smoke, not what you want from someone waiting on you. We decided to give the experience another chance and ordered the sticky toffee pudding for dessert; it was dense which you can see in the photo, dry and still had the date stones in it, we were also given soup spoons to eat it with. To our surprise when the bill came there was a 10% service charge which we had removed as the majority of the meal had been disappointing and marred the celebration. We won't be rushing back.
We stumbled upon this place. And the gents coming out said it was great. traditional British food just done right. I had the fish cake starter, and the steak and kidney pudding OMG! Nice glass of cab franc to go with it. So 2 people, 2 glasses of wine, 2 starters, and 2 main courses came in at 76gbp. Gratuity was added to that. I would go back in a heartbeat when I am next back in manchester
Had my Sunday lunch here. Was not sure what to eat and then the staff recommended the croned beef hash. The dish has got beautiful layout. Thr beef was tender, soaked in gravy and went well with the potatoes. On the top were crispy fried bacons and an poached egg, adding some flavour. The atmosphere was lovely and the service was nice.
Nice bar. Had a corned beef and hash. Really good. The crispy bacon on the top really was perfect. Beautiful scotch egg too. The history of the pub is also incredible.Food: 5/5
I've been wanting to visit this pub for a while. We had a few drinks, didn't have anything to eat because we'd already eaten, maybe next time. A beautiful, spacious pub with a nice, friendly atmosphere. Love the LS Lowry statue at the bar Atmosphere: 5/5
