Lovely food, it's pub food with a modern sophisticated twist, the steak was cooked exactly how I requested it and had been seasoned well, we ordered the crab cakes that were divine and had just the perfect amount of chilli. Staff are all very friendly and enthusiastic about what they were doing, 10/10 would go again. My only piece of advice is that there is a huge service charge by northern standards we recommend you do what we did and get them to remove it from your bill and then tip your server directly with cash as we highly doubt the staff see a penny of the "service charge" Other than that perfect restaurant
Reserved a table for Sunday lunch. Food was amazing, we both chose the roast beef Yorkshire pudding was the best I've had in a long time. The staff serving were great , we were seated and served really quickly. The only negative that I would say is that the toilets are down stairs and could do with a renovation but that wouldn't stop me from returning at all next time I'm in Manchester.
Truly great spot to stop for a pint. Gorgeous exterior, really stands out from the street as you approach, although it’s quite narrow so it’s easy to miss. Warm, rustic interior. Plenty of draft options but some solid cask handles, including TT Landlord and Boltmaker. Had to go for the latter. Well-priced, well-poured pint. Front room is for drinking while the back room is for dining.
Fantastic pub - end of !!! Whilst we cat sit for our daughter who lives up here, we will always now visit this magical pub that we only discovered today!! It's full of people our age lol . . . Ed, the bar manager is also a great asset to this beautiful old establishment! Can't wait for a revisit as it's our kind of boozer! Nigel & Claire
Love the beautiful green tiles on the wall. The food was really. The standard is consistent with Sam's Chop House which impressive. Although when I tried the fish and chips the portion was a bit smaller than what I had seen others get.Food: 5/5
Checked out this place while in town, it’s a very antique restaurant with half bar half dining concept. Food is pretty good and standard as a restaurant. We had steak n onion ciabatta and ox cheek regiatoni We went for lunch but bar crowd builds up even around 1pm. Can be slightly noisy but all is good!Food: 5/5
I have lived in UK for nearly 10 years now and I've visited a lot of pubs/restaurants and other places to eat - honestly can say this was the most tasty food I have had in UK. Massive props to kitchen and everyone else making it the place it is! The Scotch egg was divine, please make sure to try it!
Amazing place. The staff were polite and professional. The menu contained something for everyone. I had read really good things about their corned beef hash so I had to try it. The corned beef hash was absolutely amazing. Some of the best I ever had. The sauce that was drizzled over it provided a nice contrast to the hash. I would definitely order it again.
Some of the recent reviews were worrying but everything was fine. The restaurant is very old school and well maintained, though the men's toilet is missing a lock. The fish and chips were good, including the mushy peas. The kids roast beef was good though portions perhaps a bit too big. My pie was probably slightly disappointing by comparison.
A small restaurant set back behind a bar, but don't let that put you off. Their friendly staff serve hot, tasty food of very generous portion sizes. We were very pleasantly surprised and both said we'd be back. The corned beef hash took me back to childhood! Recommended.Food: 5/5
