SCAMMERS!!! I rented a Van 29/03/24 for 1 day. My initial enquiry was with Kath and she was lovely, professional and advised me of the documents and everything I will need. When I picked up the Van everything was great apart from a man named Nigel who kept interrupting Kath while she was explaining to me the different Van sizes. Kath even said to her other colleague that Nigel has a habit of interrupting customers and that he was warned about this on several occasions before. I was seen to by Taz to check the Van over and he was also fantastic. When I went to return the Van on the 30/03/24 I went past Asda petrol station filled up the tank and made sure it clicked 3 times. Asda petrol station is about a 5 mins drive to Van depot. The dashboard showed full tank and still showed full tank when I got the Van depot. I went to drop off the Van and this time I was seen to by Nigel The man who kept interrupting Kath and I the day before picking up the Van. There was a younger lad and before they checked anything in the car or the dash board for the fuel, the young lad started putting fuel into the Van or in my opinion what he made to look like he was putting fuel in the car. I couldn’t see exactly what he was doing but after a few seconds he says to Nigel, “oh its took fuel that” and Nigel says we’re going to have to charge you for the fuel. The fuel meter he read was £14.62. I said to both of the Men I just filled up a full tank and I showed them the receipt, he said we are not bothered about that love in a condescending way, it doesn’t matter we will still charge you anyway. I’m not sure what they did and I know this is a SCAM to get extra money out of customers because I’ve never had this issue with them before when I rented cars from them. They didn’t even bother checking the dashboard. I’ve used Salford car hire several times over the years and they have been good in the past, never have they tried scamming me before but I vouch to never use them again. I went to reception and spoke to the lady at reception and told her what happened. I was so upset and frustrated at what just happened and was in disbelief and shock that they just tried to say it wasn’t a full tank when it was. How can you say that it’s not a full tank when I just filled up and showed you proof of the time stamp on the receipt. Please don’t trust this company, Nigel needs to be fired with the way he speaks to people. Not sure what kind of business this has turned into but it’s very disappointing to see as a returning customer. Not only have they lost me as a customer but I sure will be telling my friends and family who use them to go elsewhere too. It’s not on to be scamming anyone. £14.62 is not a lot of money to pay extra but it’s the principle of being deceitful to customers. I hope that extra charge was worth loosing a loyal customer over. RESPONSE TO YOUR REPLY: I don't have a personal problem with any of your staff, in fact I've mentioned how great both Kath and Taz were because they genuinely were. I know the difference between good and bad customer service. What I do have a problem with however is the deception and the way you do your business and the fact you've replied back defensive in your wrong doings tells me and others all we need to know. Like I said above I have used Salford car hire many times before and haven't had an issue especially with the fuel as I've always done it the same way. So something must have changed with the way you do things and as a returning customer I've definitely noticed the difference. You can call it whatever you want but this is a SCAM and if you're offended then perhaps look at your procedures and re-train some of your staff. I've showed you proof that I filled up the tank so what you're doing is unethical and no way to run a genuine business. It is constructive feedback so you can either choose to improve from here or there will be many other unhappy customers. Looking at your other reviews clearly I'm not the only customer unhappy with your deception. Do better please!
I cannot sing their praises high enough. You have no idea how hard it is to hire a van at such a fair price as a young individual and yet Salford van hire make it as easy as it SHOULD be. Quick, efficient service with warm, friendly staff. No pushovers when it comes to returns, very fair. Will always use their services over the rest purely down to the fact that they would hire to me when no one else would, love you Salford van hire
Was going to use this service but I’m glad I didn’t in the end. I was needing to rent a transit van for 1 day and I rang a week before asking for availability and the guy on the phone said they are in high demand but said he’d put my name down to reserve one for the following week. I asked about deposits and costs and he told me to ring the morning of when I needed to pick up and he’d tell me then. Not sure why he just couldn't have just told me then and there? My moving day comes round and I ring first thing and I said a transit van in my name should have been reserved and the guy just said there’s no name or anything written down, I understand there’s nothing saying about reserving on your website but don’t let your staff mislead customers saying you can. So I just asked to get a transit van then and there but he said there’s none left and there’s only the Sprinters left, so I asked how much and he said the price per day which was okay and then a £1000 deposit? Really? Looking at other customers experience on here with not getting their deposits back I’m glad I didn’t go any further. He was brief and quite rude with me on the phone too, felt like he just didn’t want to help me. Disappointed. Would not recommend. EDITmy reply to your reply: non genuine account? Seriously? You’re right I didn’t use your service but I interacted with your staff and inquired about your service which I can prove. This by all means puts me in a position to leave a review if that experience alone was enough to stop me even using your service, in addition to leaving me dissatisfied enough to write a review. Emailed a week in advance asking if there were transit vans available. Received a reply saying yes there will be one available just come on down on the day. Rang up before setting off just to double check and the receptionist said there's been no vans available since Christmas. I said I'd emailed a week ago and was told there were some available and she said "well there's not, bye" and hung up. Extremely rude.

Large hire company use 4 or 5 times a year always have LGV's in just make sure they hi back with full fuel and add blue as you will get an extra fuel bill at about £2.08 ppl
Had to claim back excess for my excess insurance and they made the process easy. Very pleased with the hire and would recommend.
I am very satisfaced with this company, I rent a van for 1 week, the price is amazing 190£ while several other companies were 280£ or more. The van had plenty of space I thought it was smaller and when I opened such big spaces, they were very helpful, they gave me the van around 10:30 and they gave me of time until 11am of the same day next week so like spare time just in case. Keep up the good work
We hired a car for 8 weeks. We messaged in advance from NZ and when agreed on a price, documentation was emailed through to sign. On pick up we copped a bit of an attitude from the reception but in the end it was sorted. The car was great and the price was much cheaper than anyone else. On return the staff were professional and friendly. We got our deposit back promptly. I would say an extremely trustworthy car rental to deal with.
