My daughter and I took two Grannie's to the Roundthorn for afternoon tea and it was a lovely treat. The staff were attentive, making sure everything was ok and ensuring that we always had enough tea! The sandwiches, cakes and treats were amazing. A wonderful, varied and tasty selection which was presented beautifully. A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. Thank you.
We attended a function at the Roundthorn for the second year running, so impressed. The staff are lovely, welcoming, helpful and friendly. Our food was beautiful, top quality even though a large number were catered for. Decor is lovely, we'll be back again soon. Thank you for a wonderful night.Rooms: 5/5
What can we say about Roundthorn country house? The rooms and venue were beautiful! Staff were all lovely, welcoming, and friendly. We felt relaxed and welcomed. On our day of arrival, there was a wedding fair going on, with lots of wonderful local businesses who could make any wedding day fit for a princess. The tables were set up beautifully, and the decor was stunning. Due to the event happening in the main hotel, we were upgraded and stayed in a 2bed luxury apartment! The children were thrilled, as were we, there was lots of space, the beds were beautifully comfortable, the temperature was good, not too hot when sleeping. The bathroom had local hand wash, cream and hair and body lotion, luxurious towels and underfloor heating. There were hairdryers, an iron and ironing board. The kitchen was fully equipped. For anyone visiting Cumbria for a week or so, these apartments would be superb! Evening dining was a treat, scrumptious food, good wine and lovely staff. Breakfast was delicious, with lots of choice and a friendly smile. Thank you, Roundthorn country house, for making our little girls birthday so special.
From the moment my husband and I first saw Roundthorn Country House, we knew this was our wedding venue. It is absolutely beautiful inside and out and the views surrounding the area are breathtaking. The attention to detail, organisation and professionalism was outstanding from our very first meeting with Anouska all the way through to packing up the day after the wedding. From start to finish, it was clear we had chosen a great team to help us with our big day. All the team at Roundthorn are without a doubt the most friendly, approachable and helpful people we've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Nothing was too much to ask and they were always more than happy to answer questions and offer advice if needed. They were utterly fabulous. Every aspect of the day was better than we could have ever dreamed of. Anouska and the team talked us through every step and kept us well informed throughout. The food was delicious, we had so many amazing comments from our guests about the wedding breakfast and the evening buffet. We couldn't fault it. They also gave the opportunity to do a menu tasting before hand which I would absolutely recommend. After testing the beef dinner it only made me more excited to have this on the day and the cheesecake is out of this world! The venue has recently refurbished the rooms in the hotel and my goodness they look amazing! A perfect place for the guests to stay. I would also recommend utilising the apartments too if you can. We booked one of the two bed apartments to stay a few nights before and to get ready in on the morning. It was the perfect amount of space and really made the getting ready process so special. We couldn't recommend the venue and team highly enough and we are so grateful to have found Roundthorn. We had the most perfect and beautiful wedding here beyond anything we could have imagined. Thank you all so much for everything!

A fantastic venue on the outskirts of Penrith. Stunning views across to the Lake District Fells. Very friendly staff, a good selection of drinks at the bar and delicious food - even for larger events. Would thoroughly recommend as one of Penrith's best venues.Service: 5/5
A beautiful hotel with the most amazing staff. Very accommodating and wonderful with the little one. Changed our room to give us more peace due to a wedding being on. The food here is absolutely delicious. We try to stay here whenever we go to the Lake District.Rooms: 5/5
We had a excellent time at an event recently, staff were brilliaint and food was top tier, room we were staying in was beautiful and beds were really comfy topped off by stunning views while snow topped the fells. Will defineltey be back soonRooms: 5/5
I attended a function and everything was fantastic, the food was amazing and the staff very efficient, friendly and helpful. I'll definitely be going to this venue again. Food & drinks: We had a three course meal and it was for 150 people, very good food and service
Great location for my daughter wedding, staff so nice, helpful and made the day special. The rooms were lovely and clean, very high standard The view is amazing, could sit outside with a coffee and chill watching the view Breakfast was great, anything and everything, service was just nice, the staff made us feel welcome The gardens are kept well, nice to walk around Totally recommend holding your event at Roundthorn The food was outstanding, especially the pudding jay amazing Food & drinks: Amazing. Best I’ve tasted Pudding melt in your mouth
