Perfect quintessential English pub. We checked in for the night into one of their little stone conversions at the back of the pub close to the large pretty garden. It was very well furnished , with quality bed linen and towels. The pub itself was cosy and beautifully furnished, the menu was great and everything was freshly cooked. Staff were friendly and very helpful. We'll definitely be using this little gem again.
We stayed for one night before a wedding and the room was cosy and spotless! Bed was super comfy and the staff were kind enough to give us bacon baps after service closed so we could have them for our breakfast as we had to leave super early and miss out! Really lovely place. We will be back to try the food!
A stunning example of a true and exceptional country pub, love the refurbished new look, front of house offering great welcome and service from the moment we arrived, excellent menu which most of was gluten free, a dream for someone like me who suffers wheat intolerance. Well manicured gardens for a restful and enjoyable meal, plenty of garden tables for outside dining including play area if bringing small ones. Noticed outside kitchen and cinema for great evening entertainment. Will definitely return. Also enjoyed the Blagdon Lake walk 3 miles close by, a must on a nice day.
Decidedly average. The food is decent but otherwise this is pure corporate gastropub with fake art, zero character, and a young waitstaff who try hard but are completely hopeless. Our server brought the wrong starter, and had to be beckoned multiple times just so we could place our orders. We booked weeks ago and were placed in a room full of screaming kids. We won't be back.
Lovely pub with super rooms in a beautiful part of the world. Great food very dog friendly. Roaring log fire comfortable bar. Breakfast choices were excellent and of a high standard.
Great little pub this. Definite bonus to our Airbnb stay down the road. Genuinely one of the best Sunday dinners ever. Good service too. Well worth the visit.
Amazing stay, landlord is lovely and the food was great had a Sunday lunch and a breakfast the next morning!. Good atmosphere in the pub and the room was lovely and quiet -really clean and lovely products/nice finishing touches. Would stay again :-
A lovely, relaxing overnight stay! Had a great time with a very nice dinner, a good menu with some additional specials. Cosy pub, good beers and drinks menu and to top it off the manager and staff were great!
Just fancied a juicy beef roast dinner, served medium rare with all the trimmings...and that's exactly what I received. Traditional old country boozer in a village setting. All the meals we ordered were very much enjoyed. Hoping to return soon.
A real gem of a pub! Received a really warm and attentive welcome when we turned up hoping for a meal without pre booking. The food was delicious , we both had pudding as well and both were on the table quickly. We sat by the hearth which is a complete wall of a fireplace.
