Unfortunately we had a bad experience with the food here. Chef must have been on holiday. Menu completely different to that advertised on the website. Service was mediocre & some of the food was inedible. Very over priced too. £18 for a tiny very overcooked and dry chicken breast, 4 50p sized potatoes and a pot of peas that should have been asparagus!! Batter on the fish was soggy, chips were very dry. I hate leaving bad reviews yet even after clearing away 4 mostly full plates we weren't even asked if the food was okay. Barmaid was nice and did ask upon paying but still happily took payment. Disappointing end to a long day travelling. We wouldn't recommend or return.
We had the best experience at this beautiful place! The food was the best Iv had in a long time! The staff are all so lovely! The chef was top notch! Honestly I don’t understand the bad reviews as I have nothing but praise for the place!! The landlady was so lovely, telling us the gluten free options etc the pub itself was stunning! Good prices for beautiful food. We will deffo be back thank you for such a lovely experience and great food!
Husband and I booked in for a roast and it did not disappoint. The presentation was lovely, hot and tasty and the service was great. It is also a bonus for us, as it is dog friendly. Will definitely be back soon.
Food was OK, although the chicken burger buns were stale and the chicken and bbq sauce had a very odd flavour. The chicken and chorizo baguette was good. Be warned, don't sit near the toilets to the left of the bar, the smell comes out and is very off putting but by the time you realise its too late to move so your stuck.Food: 3/5
First time visited as camping locally. Read reviews and appears to have changed hands back in 2017, now advertising home cooked food. On entering the language at the bar was rather fruity swearing however once seated was very cosy. Lots of fairy lights dotted around. Limited menu but something for everyone at reasonable prices. Good drinks selection and a lovely NZ Sauvignon Blanc. Its not waitress service, you order at the bar. Generous portions of which were lovely, however we were not offered a dessert menu so assume only starters and mains. Would not hesitate to return.
Limited menu, portions on the small side but food was fair standard. Quality of service was good but slow probably due to lack of staff.Food: 4/5
We won a three course meal for 2. The food had always been great here. We've had many meals. This pub also has good local live music. I would have taken pics of the delicious food except I was halfbway through treatment when I realised
4 stars for food only because was on the cooler side, but tasted excellent x Lovely oldy worldy pub lots of beams and fairy lights in abundance - very pretty .... and they serve 0.0 Gordon's! Winner
Disappointing food and service. Highlights were the chickens outside. I made contact before making a booking to ask about gluten free options. I was told they have gf bread and can exchange bread in the menu items for gf. I then booked a table for lunchtime on a Saturday. When we sat down I mentioned that I'd sent an email and just wanted to check I could swap for gf bread. She went off to check with the kitchen and came back and said they'd run out of gf bread and were waiting for a delivery there's a big tesco minutes away, gf bread is quite readily available.... Had I been there with just my partner I'd have left and found somewhere else but I was having lunch with my elderly relatives and we'd travelled over an hour to get there. I had a burger and asked for no bun and it was fairly dull and tasteless overall. It was meant to be served with onion rings but none were served with it. I asked the waitress and she merely said "oh weren't there any?" and then shrugged as if there was nothing she could do. For a veggie burger and a bit of salad, £16.50 is extortionate. The price doesn't suit the quality of the food, menu options or location. Other food we had was dry chicken burger and cold custard with dessert we'd asked for it hot and all quite disappointing and expensive overall. Glad we saw the chickens outside but we won't visit again for the food.
Great pub, super food, lovely staff, chef brought food to table, highky recommended.Food: 5/5
