Party of 8 only went for a meal. What food we had was very nice although limited. The sweet menu was extremely limited and not enough portions for what was wanted. It was boxing day so maybe could be expected but if you're open ...... Very nice setting over looking the village greenService: 5/5
I stayed here the night whilst hiking the North Downs, unfortunately I'd been soaked through so had to cut my hike short but was able to come back here at the last minute to finish what I'd started! Room was a good size, although slightly hap-hazard; needed more power points as, although you had a kettle in your room you had no where to plug it in but on your night stand. Lovely old building, there will be noise from the bar below but frankly it's expected in buildings this old and kind of adds to the ambience. The only issue I had was that there wasn't any hot water in my room, I think something had gone down somewhere? I had to resolve this by having a wartime bath using the kettle! The staff were all really friendly and the pub had a very good vibe; there is also an extensive menu and the food was fantastic, had a lovely chicken pie and by no means could they ever be accused of scrimping on portion sizes! Overall it was lovely little place to stay and I'd certainly come back here!
Lovely old pub on the village green. They serve truly home made individual pies - not just a pastry top - with ample tasty fresh vegetables AND they are DOG FRIENDLY! Oh, and 3 great real ales available too. So glad I called in on my way to Canterbury.
Just the loveliest local pub. The team are wonderful. Food is good big portions . It's lovely to have it on our doorstop. Beautiful views and beer garden I the summer and cosy log fires in the winter :-
Like others that visited here, I was staying at the overpriced Eastwell Manor, so it was a relief to be able to pop down here for some reasonably priced food. The beer selection is OK : three ale pumps and a few taps for your lagers Beavertown Neck Oil and Foster’s and a Guinness tap too. Cider drinkers will find a tap too. The pub has a nice layout and warming open fire and is populated by a scattering of local drinkers. The menu is extensive. There’s a lunch menu, a vegan / vegetarian menu, a children’s menu and there’s probably a dinner menu too. Nothing online, but it’s a load of staples that you would like. If - like me - you want to try some nice bread and oil with vinegar, perhaps don’t. I was served some slices of bread and a pot of oil with balsamic vinegar at the bottom. It’s not how it’s supposed to be. I was terrified my main meal would be equally as awful. Thankfully it wasn’t! The pie was terrific and the veg was wonderfully cooked and all served with a lovely thick gravy. I get the impression this little place does traditional food really well. Service is OK - depends who you get - but the staff are friendly so even if they make a mistake, it’s easily forgiven. I absolutely recommend the place for some old fashioned grub to get you through the day.
Brilliant room to hire in the back of pub. Food provided was excellent and service at bar was brilliant. A real old country pub with loads of character and atmosphere. Would definitely recommend hiring the room.
Fantastic food and a great selection of beers. None of your out of a packet microwaved stuff here... Steak pie was superb. Wish I was staying longer would have returned in a heartbeat. Excellent.
We went as a group of 5 for Sunday lunch with no booking. They sat us straight away with no drama and took good care of us. Food was delicious so will definitely be back - I'd be there every week if I lived closer!
Lovely welcoming pub, overlooking cricket green. Good food, good beers, and rooms of you want to stay. Not stayed here so not marked up on stars but I'm sure they would be excellent.Service: 5/5
It's a British pub...Good comfort food... The pub itself needs thorough clean as everywhere was sticky to touch. The room was small...the bathroom was large but limescale and dirt spoilt the stay.
