We decided to stay at the Pucks Rest and it did not disappoint! Staff are so friendly and make you feel so welcome and helpful and it’s so lovely to see how much hard work has gone into renovating the guesthouse! The garden is gorgeous with a beach view and it’s dog friendly! 10/10! Highly recommend!Rooms: 5/5
I writing this on behalf of Family members that stayed here at weekend for 1 night. Room was not clean, they sent us photos and video footage , shocking for the price they paid. Bathroom had holes in the wall, shower base had dirt and mould growing on it, no toilet paper which is a basic need. Room carpet was stained as well as the curtains. Tumblers were dirty, cups had coffee residue still in them, no milk,sugar satchets looked like they had been there for months as were all solid. The worst was bedsheets on 1 of the single beds was dirty. During the night other hotel users that had been drinking, on passing their room kept banging the room door , due to the fact there was a wardrobe blocking part of the corridor. Family members did say the owner was polite and welcoming when they arrived . It was my suggestion that they stay here, as the photos of the hotel looked good on website. I now regret this as photos did not depict what they were given, if it had been myself, staying I would have gone straight to reception at bar and asked for another room, however these members of my family didn't want to make a fuss, they just wanted somewhere with a clean bed for the night and rest after a long journey. I do understand that it is being renovated at the moment, however that doesn't excuse the state of the room they were given at a cost of £85.
Loved the setting, the team and an all round great stay. Beautiful views from my room and coffee on the beach directly at the end of the hotels garden every morning was awesome! Will be going back as soon as I am able!Rooms: 5/5
Had an absolute amazing weekend here. Staff were brilliant and friendly. Our room was great with a fantastic view of the sea front. Even better that we had our dog with us and she loved it as much as us. Defintly recommend here with your dog or even without. Bar was great with amazing prices. Only a short walk to town. Will defintly be back here.
Loved our visit. Lovely owners. Great welcome. Beds are very comfortable, rooms are much bigger than expected. Very clean. Everything you need for a short stay. Even a lovely resident dog Great location. We will definetly be back.
Had a beautiful Seaview room. The wooden bed & surrounding wall were made by Joshua the manager out of reclaimed wood. Only found this out after saying how lovely it is .. The garden area is amazing, cleverly designed with comfortable seating.along with an area of grass which means plenty of room. The owner has a plan for a cafe. I would say be patient with this place because it's going to be stunning, yes it's a work in progress but the hotel is staying open serving its guests while this. Oh,must mention the huge screen for projector. And David the barman mega helpful & friendly.
Would NOT RECOMMEND staying here! Booked dorm room for 10 people as it was our annual meet up and the whole point of it was to stay together in a one big room,and got 4 horrible „family rooms” with mould,holes in the wall and bunk beds for children instead.The owner refused to give us what we have booked,didnt bother to inform us about any changes,was really rude and even called one of my friend „a nightmare!”. Really disappointing, won’t be staying there again.
My family and I arrived on Friday to the pucks rest and were all disgusted by the smell and atmosphere. When we entered, we were greeted by at least 30 people in an bar who all stopped to stare at us, an alsation dog not on a lead ran over to us barking aggressively before being dragged away by it's owner. It was hugely intimidating. We quickly walked to our room which was a few stairs away from the bar. Our key was already in the door which was beside the public toilet. The room smelt awful! It smelt musky and damp and looked as if someone had sat on the bed before us. Anyone from the public could access the room from the bar. We phoned the owner to say we would not be staying, he said we would not get a refund or be put in a different room and said what did we expect for a room so cheap. We left immediately, we believed the positive reviews unfortunately, however I can assure you, they must be fictitious. His attitude was disgusting and rude. We only visited for my father in laws funeral, so this caused even more upset. Josh you are an absolute disgrace.
Had read mixed reviews but can't fault the place. Very clean sheets, welcoming sitting room for the rainy days and plenty of games, books etc.... Not met the owner yet but the manager is great and shared some amazing plans for the place.. we'll definitely be back next season to see the progress, thanksRooms: 4/5
When i first arrived with my family it was a good impression but as the night went on it just got worse. Our rooms were not ready in time for the time the owner said was check in. When we eventually got into our family room the room smelled and the beds were dirty with hairs all over my childrens beds that we had to let them sleep in our bed. The cups were dirty and there was no coffee or tea only sugar! Also no toilet roll and the shower was filthy!! The outside was covered in cigarette doubts that had clearly been there for a long time and when we went down to the bar for a drink the staff seemed to be run off their feet and we were waiting ages to be served several times, when we were served they were quite rude! The owner was no where to be found so that in the end we just went somewhere else. I would not recommend this place and would not go back to stay again. EVERYTHING about this place and staff was terrible!!
