Not the easiest place to park. Room was good. Food was poor. Had chicken that was supposed to be smothered but barley covered. Mushrooms were so hard this morning and scrambled egg had hard crust
Lovely Room, Poor Service ExperiencennWe had high hopes for our stay. The rooms were lovely—clean, spacious, comfortable beds, and great air con, which was very welcome during the heatwave.nnUnfortunately, breakfast was a letdown. On the first morning, the food was lukewarm and dry—especially the scrambled eggs and mushrooms. I didn’t complain immediately, assuming it was a one-off. But the second morning was just as bad. The scrambled eggs and mushrooms were again dry, the hash brown had a bitter aftertaste—like it had picked up residue from an oven that hadn’t been properly deep cleaned—and a hair was found in my wife’s breakfast. We showed this to the woman on the breakfast desk late 50s, also working reception.nnShe was immediately defensive—saying the hair couldn’t have come from the chef as he had short hair, and must have fallen in from one of the guests. She also insisted the oven is cleaned daily, though the taste indicated a deep clean likely was needed. My concerns were met with excuses and deflection. I explained I hadn’t complained the day before, but the food issues were clearly ongoing. She made further excuses such as “bacon can be dry” and didn’t seem to take the concerns seriously.nnLater, I went back to explain that I felt gaslit by how the complaint was handled. At that point, she told me I’d been “aggressive,” which I disagree with. I was frustrated, yes, but not rude or confrontational. I even sat down to try to make her feel more at ease and explained I just wanted to give honest feedback. Eventually, she did apologise more sincerely, suggested smaller batches of food might help, and agreed to refund all the breakfasts we had prepaid, which we appreciated.nnParking was another issue—only around 20 spaces, the “full” sign wasn’t working, and staff gave vague directions about where else to park. We were told to try the station car park, but the instructions were vague, which led to extra stress and wasted time.nnWe weren’t expecting luxury—just hot, fresh good tasting food, basic hygiene, and a professional attitude when dealing with feedback. Sadly, it was the way our complaint was handled—not just the food—that left the worst impression.nn— Jay and Judy
If you don't have to park then this hotel is fine. I was checking out so moved my car to their front car park allowed 20 minutes...ridiculous until I checked out, forgot a bag so had to go back up for it. Was in the car park for 25 minutes...received a £100 fine a month later. I'm editing this review because I appealed and they waived the fine...as they should. Other than that it's just like any other Premier Inn...you know what you are getting and that is just fine.
Good room with a great view. Hotel was missing a few service related items for both the room and the restaurant. Not always warned of food changes I.e. not warned that garlic bread wasn't available and being given chips instead or for toilet paper in the room.nStaff were nice throughout.nLimited parking nearby.nBought meal deal but restaurant was closed at weekends. Awaiting refund from them
Had a one night stay so I could watch some English Open snooker a couple of miles away. I had come from the West Midlands by train and tube. The tube station being very close to the hotel helped quite a bit. Ok so I had to get taxis to and from the snooker but not at too much expense so all good. Had an evening meal on the Thursday evening which was excellent as well as a lovely breakfast the morning after. Room was comfortable and I ensured I took advantage of all the free coffee sachets available and made myself a load of coffees. Well, it's gotta be done hasn't it? Lol.nMy only slight quibble really was the check in lady was a little bit abrupt and impatient when I was checking in. Just rein it in a touch if you please - lol.nOverall though very good.
