Nice cream tea but packed to the rafters literally with old folk. They have a fantastic conservatory area but decided to squeeze us into the dining area which smelled of boiled cabbage and beef stew! Tea was fine but absolutely no ambience better off sitting in your car!

Love staying here - great rooms beautiful garden and the good is fantastic. The staff are very welcoming and give great service.

Really sorry to be writing this, as I have enjoyed the experience here previously. Ate here on Wednesday evening, and so disappointed. Vegan food very bland (I appreciate not every restaurant has caught up with this yet). Food average yet still expensive. No amuse bouche etc- think they forgot us. Red wine came freezing cold, then boiling hot like tea when I asked for them to raise the temperature. Undrinkable. £50 bottle. For a restaurant with wine worth thousands on their list this is a pretty basic error. Dinner for three was £170 so not cheap. Shame.

Rated as the best hotel in Brentwood, that certainly was our experience over a two night stay after Christmas. A hotel with loads of character, this was a very restful stay in a room that was comfortable, well equipped and maintained as well as quiet. The staff were all very helpful and welcoming. Would recommend particularly for romantic weekenders.
