Looks like this pub was closed down when we arrived. Went in anyway had a pint of Guinness. Was told someone as taken it over and was keeping it as a pub. Some work needed on the premises to get it up to scratch. Hope it survives and does well.
Good pub with budget accommodation and outstanding breakfast located on a serene environment. Recommended for lovers of countryside.
Would have given 5,stars the staff were great the food out of this world BUT the room was disgusting it was very dirty not just in need of decoration I have posted pictures the bed is one of the worst I have ever tried sleeping in and for £85 pound a night I think it was quite outrageous such a shame
Good location and plenty of parking. Nice vege food but not quite 5 star thanks to the fly paper
Sadly, someone has recently taken over the plume of feathers, and wow. What a Shame. Absolute dump of a pub. What was once a beautiful pub with a lovely garden, The grass hasn't been cut in Months and is wildly untaken care of. Used to have a nice play set which is now completely smashed up and has swings ripped off and on the floor. The adults only garden has 3 benches, and you can't sit in there anywhere because of the overgrown grass. The main garden has no benches and is wildly overgrown. Extremely disappointed. The guinnes purchased was nice and the bar area is the only good bit about the interior. Toilets were dirty and locks didn't work, the kitchen is closed and has no menu on display, the pub is so dark it is depressing, not taken care of at all. No light, no care, no love. Needs to be sold fast and needs a complete rehaul. Very disappointing. Do not recommend.
Well looking at the food on line, we were looking forward to a mixed grill. but I think it was a chef from the 90s. Was told it was home made pepper sauce ,homemade from a packet. £2.50 for frozen hand full of chips.menu chill lassi, pie, curry or £9.00 for a plain burger then charged extras for chip and toppings So never again plus we booked and new nothing about it.staff huum, I will leave that let's just say a smile or a hello. Goes along way.
Recently re-visited the plume. Nice venue as it always was. Service a little slow and out of 8 main courses ordered one was brought to table incorrectly. Quickly rectified however. Nice selection of specials offered including some very good sea food options. Will definitely visit again.
The food is delicious! Lovely homemade dishes, & also a really nice atmosphere. Warm & cosy! Would recommend anyone to try you won’t be disappointed!
Didn't feel very welcoming. We were going to have a meal, but kitchen didn't open until 6.00pm, we arrived at 5.00pm. I had to repeat my drink order, no atmosphere in bar, so we decided to go elsewhere for our meal rather than wait for the kitchen to open, especially as we had not even been offered a menu so that we could at least peruse what might have been on offer
You were very lucky, Mary, that you choose to go elsewhere. We had a meal there this evening and it was dire. The atmosphere, the service and the food, especially the dessert!. We only stayed as we had booked and were hungry. We were shown to our table and left a single menu to share and in such subdued lighting we could hardly read it. After choosing we had to return to the bar to ask to order which was eventually carried out at our table. The food arrived hot but the chips were undercooked and my tartar sauce was so tart I couldn't use it, fish had curled and was placed skin up on the plate and mushy peas probably Tescos. The best part of the meal were the sides of onion rings that we both ordered and we both enjoyed. Dessert, which we shouldn't have ordered was plastic, chocolate fudge cake was served cold, black forest gateau was like cheese cake and both served with ice cream straight from the fridge and so hard we had to wait ten minutes before we started. We received an apology at the end for the slowness of service as it was very busy. What? Ten covers on three tables busy? Served by the single waiter all through our service and so glad as when an additional waiter appeared he looked as if he had come straight from his job on the farm and still wearing his work clothes - dirty and very bedraggled - I so hope that he wasn't the chef!...... When we came to pay, the waiter walked away with our bank card - they should have paid us for our sufferance. Very poor!
