Story

Pitt Cue has been on an incredible journey: launched as a food truck on the South Bank we evolved into a tiny bricks-and-mortar site in Soho and now a full blown restaurant in Devonshire Square in the heart of the City. Founded by Tom Adams one of the pioneers of British barbecue, the original Pitt Cue opened back in 2011 named after Pitt, Tom’s home town in Hampshire.

In addition to rearing our Mangalitza pigs at our own Coombeshead Farm in Cornwall, we work directly with family farmers and butchers to source the very best, dry-aged, rare-breed meat. Cooking over fire is at the heart of what we do here and almost all our dishes are grilled or smoked.

We are proud to boast our own Brewery within the restaurant, a full wine list and bar. At Pitt Cue we take our drinks as seriously as our food. Rather than stock everything, we select only ‘underdog’ spirits chosen to complement our food- Rum, American Whiskey and Mezcal - the three great spirits of the New World.

Never been before, so these are definitely only first impressions. 1. The staff were a little standoffish. My very first experience of Pitt Cue Co was was to step from the entrance to allow a waitress to go through a door: she didn't say thank you or even acknowledge the gesture. Once inside, there was no warmth from the two people who served us 2. We ordered the pulled pork bun to take away because we were short of time. Ordering was quick and food arrived within about 10 minutes. 3. Used the restroom while waiting - disgusting. There was a stench of urine that suggested the bathroom was overdue a good clean, and the general cleanliness of the little bathroom was suspect. 4. The pulled pork buns were a little disappointing - but perhaps I had been sucked in by all the hype? The bun was light and soft, working well to soak up the juices without disintegrating. The pork was moist - and there was a pretty good amount of it - but I didn't get any smokiness. In addition, good BBQ shouldn't be slathered in sauce, but this one most certainly was and in my mind it overpowered the flavor of the meat. The slaw was delicious, as were the pickled gherkins. Overall, a good bun with a pleasing flavor combination, but no real sense of smoke and perhaps a little too reliant on the sauce to deliver flavor. I'll certainly return to the Pitt Cue Co in order to sample more of the menu. Will post additional reviews here when I do
I've been to Pitt Cue a few times now and every experience has been superb. They make some of the best food I've ever tasted - simple dishes done extremely well. Great sausage, ribs, pulled pork, and other tasty meats are on offer, alongside creamy bone marrow mash and tasty veggie chilli sides. Pitt Cue's drinks are always good too, with a wide selection of excellent American bourbon and rye whiskey and well-balanced cocktails. Their staff are friendly and are willing to let you know a bit about the interesting provenance of their dishes and the environment their pigs are raised in. It's not the cheapest place to eat, but it's not bad for Soho; the portions are generous and I've always left feeling that the money was very well spent.
The food here is consistently incredible. Bone marrow mash say yes to the occasionally offered shaved truffle add-on, perfect ribs, pulled pork, pig cheek, and an array of creative specials for the more adventurous diner. Decent whisky based cocktails and craft beers too. I'd visit more often but the queue is a nightmare.
Already planning a return visit. If you're prepared to wait 45 minutes and like meat, you're in for a treat. We put our name down, had a couple of cocktails outside and were eventually called in to the tiny restaurant downstairs. Listen to the waiter. He recommended the jowl scrumpet and it was absolutely delicious. Pretty reasonable prices for both cocktails and food, given the quality.
Massive cult following for this place, and I can see why. This isn't a very big restaurant at all but it's definitely a special one. I loved the informal nature of everything, and how easy going all the staff are. We pretty much ordered everything on the menu as well as a round of cocktails. SO so good. Make sure you also get a round of the pickleback tequila shots and pickle juice!
A charming little restaurant with great staff fun tasty food. Everyone there is very friendly and helpful. The food and drink is fantastic and well worth the wait unless you're savvy and get there early to avoid the queues. Do get the scratchings and a beer their own brew while you wait! Definitely get the unbelievably good slaw and a side of the amazing marrow mash. The music was quite loud in the small space and it would've been great to get a side of apple sauce or some sauce on the side... Overall a wicked place!
Another meaty place in central London with a big queue... but don't let the hype put you off, Pitt Cue Co is brilliant. Get there early - we queued for about five minutes before being ushered into the upstairs bar. Here your wait is around an hour, but the drinks are good, cheap and interesting try the Pickle Juice so time passes pretty quickly. Yes, it's busy and yes, it's crowded but it all adds to the fun. Once you're ushered downstairs it's a shared-table situation, which can make things tricky when you're tucking into wings with elbows akimbo and napkins everywhere, but everyone's in the same situation! The menu is short and sweet with a focus on meat + side options, although there are also specials on offer. We opted for one main and three sides, which was more than enough for two people. That, a dessert and three drinks each was all £50 and it was awesome - get off work early and go and queue, it's worth it.
Went there a few weeks ago whilst on holiday in London. The ribs were out of this world. I also tried the pulled pork that was accompanied by seriously tasty mash. Also had the lamb dish which was cooked to perfection. Apart from the wait to get a seat, I'd go as far as to say it was the best meal I've ever had, and I had eaten at Dinner a few nights prior to Pitt Cue & Co!
The food here is great. They have a really nice take away pulled pork sandwich which I recommend. I also had the beef brisket with side order of burnt end mash. Have to say that the mash potatoes were awesome. Highly recommended. Overall, the food was excellent, but I was a little disappointed in the portion size considering the price. I expected a little more meat. However, if you are looking for a BBQ joint, look no further. Nice service as well!
I've heard a lot about PC and having always noticing the crowd outside every night and lunch queuing up, I thought I'd take the plunge. I have to say, the staff, not only are helpful, but really know the history of the product they are serving, from where its from to how it should be served. Amazing pulled pork, loved the drink menu, and the pickle juice I could have quite easily taken home! Its good, its authenticity good, and I've eaten a lot in southern US. This is good. very good. I'll queuing again very very soon!
