It was early in the afternoon. The place smelled like a bar that is well loved by its patrons, as if the walls would quietly burp the smell of many beers. There was a soccer game and for some reason I was the only patron there. After the match I went to the bar for another beer. The person behind the counter told me about the history of the place. When I told her about the black stone in memory of the 6.000 Irish immigrants that died on their way to Canada, located in Montreal, and how the Québécois wanted the adopted orphans to keep their family names in memory of their deceased parents, she grabbed a bottle of whiskey called Writer's Tears, serving two glasses and even if we didn't want to, we ended crying ...it was so damn moving. I never had that whiskey again. I will only have it there, but I heard the place closed its doors.
Apparently it's been closed for years.
