Staff are brilliant and their services are great, with the exception of my last visit where I adopted one of the rescue hamsters. I already had a large cage set up (60cm x 100cm x 60cm) and was told by one of the staff that it was too small and didn't have enough floor space. I was then shown the ones they sell in store and assured they were all appropriate for a Syrian hamster. One of them was only 35cm x 25cm x 50cm. I was then told that they wouldn't let me have the hamster unless the cage was bigger (which confused me because they're now trying to sell me a smaller cage(?)) Came back the next day and spoke to a different member of staff who was more than happy to assist me and informed me that my cage was more than adequate.

Staff are wonderful... very friendly and kind. Really care and give out plenty of advice... brought some fish from here couple of times.. lovely experience..

There is some issue at this store which I don't know how to describe. Most of the time, the waiting time at the till is just a little too long. New starters most of the time are not trained well enough to handle any requests which are out of scope of "scanning and pressing selected tender" on the tills screen. I would more assume that problem is not with employees itself, but with the expectations of the head office, which do require an employee to multitask between deliveries, price changes, stacking the shelves and serving the customer at the same time. It is sad, because each time I am thinking about going to Pets At Home, I know it is going to be a stressful experience. BTW. Sometimes you really should realise, that customer do have some knowledge about their fish tank. Especially if they do have a huge fish tank, with very specific species. And I don't really like to take PetsAtHome exam to buy a fish. I get the point, that selling animals to people without any experience, should be a crime, but sometimes I feel like I am wasting my time, trying to list all the fish that I have in my 4 fish tanks. And the customer adviser, should catch the fact that he is not talking to a newbie a little quicker, instead of trying to make sure that a Gourami will be fine in a 240L tank (27'C) with more plants than plecos and siamese algae eaters all together.
