Lovely hotel. The staff were fantastic. There was a coach and birthday party during my one-night stay. The rooms above the ballroom were noisy could feel the bass through the floor, but I was moved to another quieter room and slept perfectly well. Hot buffet breakfast was included in my rate, and was great. Would stay again or recommend to others!
The bar staff were great, the receptionist was very indifferent on the point of being rude, not the welcome you'd expect after a 10 hour car journey. Bedroom/on suite all okay, comfy bed allowed us to have a good night rest. Centrally situated!
Arrived by train in early March.nnThis is a classic old fashioned Scottish hotel with great Scottish service. The Rotary club use it.nnDecent breakfast. Restaurant and bar attached. My clean and nicely serviced room overlooks the church on the x road.nnI found the ambiance relaxing. Quiet enough , but not sound proofed.nnAll the best and thanks team Pentland for having me.nnLeave tomorrow for Wick. Bus stop nearby.
Lady at reception changed personality depending on the customer type. Outdated room, but clean bed. Bathroom spelt of wee, so skipped the shower. Thankfully I was only staying for 1 night. Breakfast buffet is traditional fry up, with the exception of smashed hash browns and triangle pieces of fried egg, many with half yolk. Was hoping breakfast would make up for poor quality room. Advice to anyone...only book here if you are desperate for a room...alternatively sleep in your car...no joke
Overall a great experience and i d stay again. I was given a single room. As one of the comments mentioning, the were no curtains for the bathroom windows, just frosted glass. Anyone can kinda see if you are in the shower if the lights are on. A curtain for the windows would be a good idea. Maureen was lovely. Made sure i was Allright.
