Excellent well maintained campsite, very warm welcome with no messing, a huge supply of wood for the fire all free of charge", only thing that could of been a little better was the toilet facilities but that's more of a female issue than a male one.
Brilliant campsite. There is a lot of space and it’s a pristine plot of freshly mowed grass. Great for Boules and Croquette. Gary was a lovely host and always available for help! Definitely will be looking to come again in the near future. Thank you for having us.
We've been coming to this site for around 2 years now and each time we go there's something new and it's only getting better. The site owners are brilliant, they can't do enough to make you feel welcome. Thank you again for having this weekend.
Nice place, great location for some nice walks. Fire pit a bonus. Owner lovely lady very welcoming. The downside for us was the portaloos they could do with an upgrade, not working properly, a bucket of water and a saucepan really isn't what you expect and smelt awful. We would definitely go back if the toilet facilities were better.
Nice place, for the most part. Free fire pit and a big ol' pile of wood to keep it going, which was lovely. The campsite is well situated for cycling hire, kayaking, etc. The kind of stuff you probably go to these places for. The owners were nice as well. The one downside was the toilets... We were told there were 2 porta-potties. One was closed off completely when we got there. The other one was the worst porta-potty I have ever used. There was no disinfectant fluid to cover the smell, and the flush didn't work so we had to scoop a small saucepan in a bucket of water and pour it onto the business to wash it down, scraping any excess with a brush. We ended up driving to the reservoir visitors centre to use their toilets it was so unpleasant. So, bottom line, if you're bringing a caravan with a toilet, great place to camp. If not... Well, just make sure to check on the status of the porta-loos. Maybe get yourself one of those portable toilets with a little tent over it.
Basic and peaceful. Short walk into town with cafes, bars and shops. Beautiful scenery
Stayed one night in April 2021. Nicely kept campsite. Just be aware if you are not a dog lover, there are 2 lively German shepherd dogs on site.
Friendly owners, slightly sloping but short cut grass. Firepit on site with a good supply of wood to burn, free of charge. Single Portaloo on site if needed. Water is in a stand pipe fed from a freshwater bowser. Toilet disposal point with tap for rinsing. Doesn't appear to be any skips for household or dog waste. Sunny position with no shade. Walks available not far from site with stunning views. Very nice! £10 per night. No electric. Mains water within a couple of months.
Two of us cycled to the Cafe on the Green from Hassop via very minor roads. It was very cold that day and how welcoming was the nice warm cafe and we were quickly served We returned to Hassop via Calver and there we found another cafe to. visit next time we are out that way.
Good campsite nice people , if you want to have a good time with friends then this is the campsite you need, can have fires ,bbqs , music , have a right laugh . Best camp site you can think off . Portaloos on site , he’s got lots of wood for fires and is very friendly . 100% recommend.
