The place has potential and certainly has seen better days. Every time I visit, something is broken, not working and there is a certain feeling of desperation. Staff at the reception are doing what they can, but there is a strong push towards membership which comes across as a bit too intense. It was great weather hot when I visited last two times, but no cold drinks or snacks were served next to the outdoors swimming pool. Assuming you guys have financial issues, that's a huge opportunity missed for extra turnover and hopefully profit. I don't know what's going on with the management and owners, one could speculate, that the business is run down to its knees on purpose, in order to sell the land for some property developers.
My 5 stars is for the young lady on reception, Jacky. I went in today to enquire about membership and Jacky dealt with me. She patiently explained about membership and the facilities and although I had no intention of joining today, she was so nice and helpful, with absolutely no pressure which I appreciated that I signed up. If the facilities are as good as the treatment I received today from Jacky, I will have no complaints. I am looking forward to my first visit.
Attended this gym for around 6 months, on a joint plan with my partner. The facilities themselves were okay toilets are horrific, the Lido being the best thing about the gym, but the actual gym equipment was constantly out of use and broken. My main issue with the gym is that when trying to cancel it's a nightmare. Online it says to simply 'pop in' or 'call'. Being out of the area, I called multiple times when I wasn't working to no response so then left an email. After hearing nothing back, I left another one two weeks later, and then a week after that I realised it was coming up to the payment coming out of my account, so stopped the direct debit on my end and let them know that I wanted it cancelled and had stopped the money coming out. This email then had a swift response of course, saying they don't advise that but understand the situation. The money still came out of my account. It's now been over a month since the initial email I sent, and other than trying to get through to them on the phone which they reassured me it would get resolved, and still hasn't the previous email from them has been the only email I have had back. Wouldn't recommend starting a membership with them purely for the hassle of trying to get it cancelled. I'm still owed £85....
Really tired and run down place, especially the pool area. Hair driers in men's changing room? Not working. Steam room? Not working for months. Showers in health suite? Not working. Come on, just call a plumber...
Avoid this place at all costs! My husband and I did a joint membership there when we moved to Crouch End. Upon using the gym twice, we decided it was not for us. The facilities are old and dirty - the gym has a constant bad smell, a lot of the equipment is old and not well maintained. Same goes for the changing rooms... We decided to cancel our membership within the 14 days cooling off period, as stated in their T&Cs. We went to the front desk where an employee guided us step by step on the cancelation process the employee was actually very nice. She told us we would be entitled to a refund of the month we paid upfront since we were still within the 14 days cooling off period. We chased the refund with their sales team a few times over email and never heard back. We finally managed to speak to two people in that team - on the phone and via email - who were completely unhelpful and beyond rude. They told us we were not entitled to a refund as we did not choose the "14 day cooling off period" on the online form & because we had canceled our direct debit. We explained that their employee guided us step by step, and we did exactly as we were told by their member of staff. Not only did they not care, they stopped replying after a few emails. We asked them to acknowledge our emails as we wanted to escalate the matter according to their escalation policy avail. on their website but neither of them replied. An overall horrible experience which now explains why the Council has revoked the Fusion contract.
So far not worth the money. Signed up for swimming classes and while it's cheaper than other local options, the classes have up to 10 kids per teacher per session fine, but: - shortage of staff means your baby will end up in the large pool in cold water - classes get frequently cancelled twice in 4 weeks very short notice - classes get swapped and if your toddler is afraid of going in the big pool even though the contract says they should go in the small, warm swimming pool, you don't get a replacement lesson. - poor management means if you call for support you don't get placed in a queue but the line gets cut off and you have to redial ad infinitum like it's the 90s
there is no doubt it is a wonderful pool great size and aesthetically pleasing. However, the desperation to suck as much money out of the local community as possible has led to a lack of community. you have to pay £8.50 per person for a two hour slot and that’s if you actually get there on time and served on time which is very rare as there is always a queue and only one person staffing the tills. lots of prepubescent teenage lifeguards who enjoy telling you not to dive into the diving pool. they need to improve the vetting process of figuring out who has made bookings and who hasn’t and letting people in as quickly as possible since they have ruined the experience by cutting it down to 2 hours slots which is over in a heartbeat. there is no doubt the pool is nice on a sunny day but the process surrounding entry and remaining in the place is a pain in the arse to be frank.
Just one person on reception who was friendly but put under pressure as she had to answer lots of general enquiries and those who just wanted to be admitted to swim where getting frustrated and took their frustration out with the one who was simply handled the growing que. The que was not given a guide barrier and people were obstructing each as it's not made clear where to que. When a que is held up and grows management action to monitor then add staff or help to clear the delay themselves. A leisure centre run in a leisurely manner was my observation. I have not used the facilities yet so I have nothing to make a judgement on.
I had my first visit in this leisure centre and I have to say it's very dirty and unpleasant. It has a good potential, very good swimming pools but the water purity is terrible! I don't know how often they clean the pools or change the water into?!, but it was pretty disgusting! You can see dirt and hair floating on the water!! And kids will swim and might swallowed some water from.... I know everything is more expensive but for exchange for customer money they should clean it way more often!!!
So much potential with this Lido, if only the management could realise it. Hopefully when Harringay take it back over, all the issues from the current mismanagement will be solved and improvements made. Longer swimming sessions giving people time to swim and also give them time to sunbathe , buy food and drink from the snack bar. A snack bar that needs to be opened when the weather is good. The surrounding trees should be reduced in height to allow more sunlight to the lido area, particularly in the spring and autumn. Make the repairs to the lockers, a long ongoing problem. This could be one of the best and popular facilities in London, if it is properly run.
