Maximum Fitness Gymnasium

I've been training at this gym for 5 years and I love it. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the weight training facilities are second to none. While it's not as glossy as a Virgin Active or Fitness First, the level of support and range of equipment more than make up for it. Highly recommended.

I have been training here for many years, and is the only real gym around. Clive Manley really knows his stuff, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. I am not one for all those luxury type of places, which are not real gyms. If you want to learn how to train properly with mainly weights i.e. dumbbells and barbells, this is the place.

The pros: Friendly customer service, quite a big space on the inside, friendly gym instructor and doesn't appear to get too overcrowded. The cons: it's expensive and despite what others have said, the equipment is not great. Most of the free weights are old exercise weights and exercise bars 1 inch diameter without rotating collars, and the benches are mostly the old exercise kind with the struts on the inside of your grip. The dumbbells are the old fashioned kind too with screw on plates so you can't get them into position easily and the dumbbell benches are very high up with really deep seats - I'm 6ft and struggled to get into a solid position. There's only one proper Olympic bench and a couple of squat racks with Olympic bar and weights. On the whole it feels like a raw gym, with leaky windows and old equipment, which I actually like. However, it feels like it's priced too high for what you get.

I've been training on and off due to relocation for a few years now. The staff is knowledgeable and Clive Manley, the senior PT, is outstanding. His work ethic and approach to fitness is second to none. Highly recommend them.

If you love waste your time , this gym is not for you! They are very professional and they help you a lot to reach your goal if you work hard .....no frills

Loved this gym. Victor, George and Joe are great PT's although Clive is rather ODD

Needs good overhaul of the kit... Lovely staff though, and literally empty.
