Friendly welcome, great room and well priced food. We have stayed at this hotel many times and were welcomed like old friends. We stayed in the newer rooms at the front, well appointed with a comfy bed. The shower was hot and there were plenty of pristine white towels. Breakfast was a hot buffet with all the usual items such as bacon, egg, sausage. The dinners were of good quality and freshly cooked. The menu is popular with the locals. We were leaving early, but our car battery died. There was plenty of symparhy and offers of tea. A very pleasant stay. We will return.
Nice place to stay for a short visit. Rooms were clean but quite small. Lobby was very nice and restaurant and bar were above average. I wouldn't want to stay for more than a few days but the area was nice. It was comfortable enough.Rooms: 4/5
Second stay here and really wanted it to be better than first time. Receptionist could have warned me there was scaffolding outside my room window! No glasses for water and no toilet brush embarrassing leaving a dirty toilet for cleaners!! Off to the bar for a relaxing drink to be told I can't put it on my room bill, so now I need to collect numerous receipts! Went for evening meal, was going to have the 3 course meal. Starter : The Pate was very bland and the onion chutney was really disappointing! Main course: I opted for battered fish and made a bad mistake. The chips were OK but the fish was not, soaking in oil which took away the taste of fish. It was that oily it was running down the fork onto my hand. I hate wasting food but I couldn't eat the fish. When asked if I wanted a dessert by a very dour faced lad I had to decline because I couldn't see it being any better than the first 2 courses. £13 for 2 courses I suppose you get what you pay for. Another receipt to collect, then another receipt for a drink after my meal. Overall another disappointing stay, its my last.
Nice and quiet place just few minutes from both train stations and town centre. The room was cozy, pleasing, clean and big enough for two. Very nice personnel. Delicious breakfast.Rooms: 5/5
Very friendly staff and reasonably priced. We arrived for a function so didn't stay over night and can't comment on the rooms. Food was good and portion size adequate.

We were in with a large party on Monday night for a 50th birthday. Thanks to Charles and the rest of the team for looking after us. Food was lovely, great drinks and great service. What more can you ask for Rooms: 5/5
Attended a funeral tea. Sandwiches acceptable but sausage rolls looked like they'd been micro waved. Soggy on bottom and some partly cold. Food prep needs attention. I'd choose alternative venueService: 3/5
Lunch with a friend. Been here before. Very friendly staff, but you get the impression that sometimes the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. The food was really good and reasonably priced.Service: 4/5
Not impressed at all. What on earth has happened to this, once, elegant, welcoming hotel?? Used to have a lovely chill out seated reception area with a nice bar to relax in.....now it just looks like a cheap meal deal diner. Staff were friendly enough , but all were a bit dishevelled looking. Whilst it's a meal deal menu....why does the place have to look like a feeding trough area in order to fit more drab tables in?? No warmth or atmosphere, place smelt old and damp....very depressing place to dine alround. We used to love going there for dinner , we dressed up for it, as it felt as though you were going somewhere special and we did go numerous times and raved about it... frequently dined there with friends and family over many years, and we held 2 large weddings there.....but after this recent visit, we won't ever be visiting the Park Hotel again.
