Booked into a room for two nights and left after one. Bed wasn't the comfiest....mattress could do with changing. Questionable stains on the sofa. Paper thin walls, doors constantly banging. Other guests were noisy and inconsiderate both night and morning this can't be helped, however maybe having staff at the premises overnight could eradicate this. Got woken at 06:00 with someone vacuuming outside our door. Cereals, toast and jam for brekkie. I'm sure the pub appeal suits some people, but not our cup of tea sadly. Have stayed in far quieter pup accommodations before now... I know you get what you pay for, but I don't think so this time...
I'll try to keep this short, if you literally just want somewhere to sleep and have no standards then it's fine, we only spent one night thankfully Saturday and it was cheap in comparison to most other places but that comes with a cost, very old and musty smell apart from the onsuite which was fitted early 2017, shame they haven't finished it yet, no where for towels or shampoos and no toilet roll holder fitted and not even painted door or frame and no hot water from shower in morning. Extra pillow in cupboard looks like an old rag. How they can advertise as breakfast included is beyond me, bread for toast, cereal, orange juice in a shared kitchenette near the rooms to make your own which we didn't bother with as just wanted to get out. You pay on arrival before you see room and when leaving not surprisingly wasn't asked how our stay was. Lots of noise shouting, swearing and sounded like fighting from pub below, could hear the bar maid shouting at someone to behave, definitely not somewhere to stay if you have children with you. We paid £60 so yes it was cheap in comparison but in my opinion that was too much and I wouldn't want to stay again if it was free.
Cheap. Olympia Hotel is a pub and you have to wade through the smokers round the front door to get in but, despite the lively bar, the accommodation was quiet. My single room was spacious with a shower inside the room - the loo being down the corridor, up five steps. The room had two ceiling lights, only one of which worked, and the switches were across the room from the bed. The strip light above the wash-basin and mirror didn't work either - near the bed was a wall light which did work but was hanging by its wires and consequently had had the wardrobe placed close by. The top half of the window opened but you would have to be tall to avoid having to balance on the upholstered chair to tackle it as I had to. The floor had obviously not been hoovered. A small tv and kettle provided comfort, there was a well stocked kitchen with extra tea and coffee - along with orange juice, a range of cereals, bread and jam for breakfast. A toaster, iron, dish washer and sink were also in here. The staff I came in contact with were lovely and I slept well - can't say fairer that that.
Service was unbelievably rude, shower didn’t work and was promised that it would be sorted and when I asked the landlady when it would be fixed I was met with “won’t be today use the shower down the hall” after she said it would be fixed on that day. When I questioned her on it she said “have a refund then!” Without a valid excuse, the rooms are disgusting, filled with dust and the full hotel is falling apart. Me and my partner got woken up by a yappy little dog at 8am which was the landlady’s, all in all the place is vile and would not recommend to anyone to stay
Good cheap place to stay room is clean. The breakfast is limited to a couple of cereals and toast that is self serve in a cupboard by the rooms. You have to share the bathroom so you may have a bit of a wait.
The negative reviews did not put us off when cycling the trans pennine trail. We are glad as the service was excellent, I would say that the double bed in room 6 wasn't the comfiest but would stay againRooms: 3/5
Excellent brew pub. 6 of their own beers on. Hotel on site which is good value for money. 5 minutes walk to Selby train station for good connections.
Close to the town. Basic facilities. Not most comfortable bed but ok. Room was not ensuite. Don't expect cooked breakfast but there is access to cereal & toast. Tea and coffee in the room. Very friendly staff.
Excellent choice of ales. Friendly and comfortable
I thought I'd try a new area and a really nice place to stay for the night lovely hosts Jane the barmaid was lovely caring and told me where to visit I was in room 7 only problem was the bed that was really soft but had a good sleep would definitely go again
