Story

The Olive Tree is proud to be one of Bath's longest established independent restaurants.

Head Chef Chris Cleghorn has honed his skills working alongside a host of Michelin Star awarded chefs including Heston Blumenthal, Michael Caines and Adam Symonds.

Chris uses a combination of classical flavours with modern cooking techniques to create his own unique style.

Great place if you’re looking for something a bit more fancy. Would recommend getting a table no earlier than 8 though as it doesn’t have a great atmosphere until then. Food is delicious and the service is impeccable.

Stayed at the Queensbury Hotel a couple of months back and decided to dine at The Olive Tree on the first night. The hotel manager was able to find us a table at the last minute, despite the restaurant being busy, and for that I'm grateful... We opted for the tasting menu and were not disappointed. Tasting menus are difficult to perfect, in my opinion, often with too much going on to really appreciate each plate, and not enough cohesiveness for the experience to be appreciated as a whole, but this was certainly not the case here. Fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients were combined and deployed with aplomb, and with service that was attentive, but never overwhelming. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Bath.

Excellent food. The chef clearly pays attention to details and the balance of tastes. We tried the seasonal tasting menu, the highlight was the Orkney Scallops and the English beef with smoked bone marrow which melted onto the beef.

It's absolutely fair to say that while the food was fantastic the service was abysmal and overshadowed any redeeming qualities about the venue. With so many nice venues to chose from in Bath, this does not come recommended. We wanted a nice restaurant to celebrate my mums birthday so when they greeted us is in a prestigious if not slightly pompous tone we though... "oooh, this is nice!", nodding our head in excitement and approval. That was the same manner the staff continued in throughout the evening, however. We were were befuddled why the service was so neglectful, negligent, dismissive and I would even say arrogant! And from the reviews I read later that evening as I tried to make sense of the evening, it seems consistently slow. Such a shame.

Spectacular food and wonderful staff. The chef chosen seven courses and wine pairings were outstanding. The locally sourced and high quality ingredients were prepared perfectly. The experience makes any occasion special!
