I spent a night here. It was very comfortable, clean and spacious. After I came downstairs to the pub, they were getting ready to serve Sunday lunch. I stayed for the food. It was amazing and the price was surprisingly cheap for so much. It's a big yes from me. It's more like family.
Booked this place for a friend visiting for the night. He joined my wife and I for our dinner in the pub and we ate the most amazing Home Made Meat & Potato Pie fresh from the oven with fresh vegetables at an unbelievable price £8.95 for a massive plate. Our friend said his en-suite room was clean and comfortable, he slept like a baby. The staff were very helpful and he thought the locals were very welcoming and friendly. Highly recommended
The lady was very lovely and sweet, however the entire stay had us feeling extremely uncomfortable. The pub is an old man pub, and very small downstairs. There wasn’t a clear place to check in so a regular shouted for the lady, she said our room number very loudly which loads of people could hear which made us feel unsafe. The noises of the pub were very loud until about 1130, and when they finally died off we could hear others, maybe the regulars all going up to the other rooms which were clearly not in use. Felt a bit rubbish being paying guest when their mates or whoever just slept for free, and weren’t respectful of the fact we may be sleeping, both in the night and in the morning. We stayed here 2 nights and the second night we were kept up until 1230 due to two ladies who clearly worked there were just up chatting on the landing, I had to go ask them to keep it down. The room itself isn’t depicted as reality via pics so that was disappointing, there was large cracks in the ceiling and very old decor/coloured walls. The shower was awful. Very basic amenities. The food had stopped serving when we got there just after 3 which was fine but we were told we weren’t allowed breakfast because we hadn’t pre booked it? But then continued to tell us the times for breakfast and dinner. We didn’t end up eating there at all as we felt very uncomfortable and not welcomed where this was concerned. We won’t be returning. Parking: Ipad to register your vehicle for your stay. Easy to enter and plenty of parking spaces
Fab old fashioned pub, used by across section of the community. Proper home cooked food, friendly atmosphere with live music on Saturday nights. Long may it continue.Food: 5/5
The room was a good price and quite nice. Small but sufficient car park, free for patrons that register at the bar. Unfortunately due to the alarm panel going off from 1am to 7.30am meant that my partner did not get any sleep, in which case we may as well have driven home after our gig. I tried resetting the panel as well as a second panel I saw, but I did not have access to the correct code. The guest entrance code did not work and the code written on the second box didn't work. We tried to make contact with the inn after our stay but had no response, so it's unlikely they have done anything about this to prevent it happening in the future, therefore if you're a light sleeper it may be a gamble as to whether or not you get any sleep. It's a shame as everything else such as the beer and room quality was so good we would have considered staying again
Great place to stay in Sheffield land lady absolutely brill made us feel really welcomeFood: 5/5
Stayed in one of the rooms for a few nights and made very welcome. The pub is traditional, good home cooked food, especially the meat and potato pie and a good selection of real ales
We stayed here for a wedding near by. We are so happy we chose The Old Crown. The staff were incredibly helpful! The two ladies even helped me in my dress and when I say helped I mean they didn’t give up and wouldn’t let me give up! It was an effort. Honestly went above and beyond, in fact everyone we met were so friendly and happy. Can’t wait to come back. Thank you so much from both of us :
I've stayed at the Old Crown a couple if times and recommend. Comfortable rooms, plenty of hot water, tea and coffee too. Standard pub food but good quality, big portions and not expensive. Nice friendly bar, cheap beer, plenty to chose from. Always seems busy with mixed crowd. Everyone happy to chat which is nice if you are travelling alone. Parking: Limited parking on site Register at the bar.
Good fresh home cooked no frills food, friendly service and good value, we ordered 2 steak and ale pie and 1 scampi, everyone enjoyed
