First time at this particular o2 venue and I really liked it. Its not small but it still feels intimate but without the rammed crowds . The sound was good and I have to pay a compliment to the security staff at the front who looked like they were absolutely loving the music, which is unusual for gigs. Usually security are stone faced and no fun but they made it fun and smiled at people and were good at crowd control, not being horrible to anyone crowd surfing, which I've seen before. They were fantastic.nnOnly reason I haven't given it 5 stars is because I should be allowed to keep a lid on a bottle of water I paid £4 for, and none of the outside staff knew where the o2 priority que was so I had to wait in the normal line which is difficult for me with autism. I eventually found it after waiting about 40 minutes when I got closer to the front.nnGreat venue!
Saw Swallow the Sun who were brilliant!nVenue is good nice size, bar wasnt overly busy and service quick. Toilets clean etc.nOnly mild irritance is the choice of beers. Nothing aside from lager not even Guinness or bottled Ales
The O2Islington is a great little venue, it’s really close to Angel tube station.nThe sound is good downstairs but it’s awful upstairs. It’s also impossible to see the band from the back.nThe drinks prices were extortionate, a pint of lager and a pint of lime and soda came to £11.65.
Decent small-sized performance venue. I had an issue with my ticket app, and the box office was helpful in manually finding my tickets.nnThe concert space is well-later out but the restroom area and egress space is definitely tight. I was really surprised that they held a meet and greet in the area outside the restrooms because with the merchandise table, it took up most of the area and slowed down exiting for those of us who didn’t want to stick around.
Great sound and near to the tube station so not too far of a walk. Cloakroom is currently £3, pretty standard for London, and it's right by the entrance which is convenient. Multiple toilets which are always fairly clean, and large areas for merch so lots of people can get in. Free earplugs at the bar which is amazing if you've forgotten your own- always appreciate venues that do that!nnUnlike every other gig I go to, I always make sure to get to this venue early. If you're there for doors or later you run the risk of missing the first band because bag/ pocket searches take so long here. I got to the venue and started queueing at about 5.40 the last gig I attended here, and doors were 6. I only just got into the venue on time for the first band to start at 6.30, so get there early. Not sure why they don't allow doors to open earlier, there literally isn't time for the entire queue to be searched and get in for the first act if they're on early. Come on o2, give smaller bands a chance! Drinks expensive as you'd imagine, but it's a venue and in London. Surprised how many types of rum they had, nice, but disappointed that the beer is basically all generic lager. Not even my usual go to, Guinness. In fact, nothing dark at all, would have paid for another drink if there was anything at all like that on offer.nnOverall, not my fav venue. But lots of bigger metal bands seem to pick it because of the size so I don't mind going for bands I like, and the sound is decent, so the shows are always good
