Lovely big house, great for a party but they need to sort the drains out! It really stank in the downstairs bathroom and loo. The smelly plug ins just couldn't mask the smell. Highly recommend the Chef the house recommend - Chef Gary.
We loved it. Perfect for a couples weekend break. Each room has its own quaint themes. Bed was comfy. Our room had the smallest bathroom in history, however shower was hot and strong! Staff were friendly and helpful.
A really lovely little Hotel.Staff were very nice and helpful too. our room was fantastic very large with with a good sized en-suite and a bath in the bedroom yes really even a comfy bed ! Excellent breakfast with good choices.Only real downside was that our room was right at top of Hotel and no lift so a real mountain climb. Overall thoroughly reccomended
Have stayed here a couple of times. Both times i booked a “single” room and got the same room room 5 each time. Although I expect a single room to be smaller than a double, this room is spectacularly small - you have to sidle into the bathroom to get in and out of the room. The room is quite a lot smaller than single rooms in other hotels in the same area for the same price or less. That said, i’ve given the place 4/5 because the room, though small, was very clean and well maintained, as was the bathroom too which is actually a decent size for a bathroom. The staff are very nice and the breakfast included is top quality. They don’t serve any meals besides breakfast, but they’re happy to provide plates and cutlery if you get a take-away and there are plenty of places to eat in the area. It’s a good hotel, but between the two, i usually opt for the place next door.
We stayed here for one night before heading off very early next morning for the Ferry. Breakfast is served from 8am so we missed out on a cooked breakfast. We were advised that there would be no one there before 8am to do breakfasts. We were not given any alternative so I asked if we could have a few things left out for breakfast at 6.30 am. The gentleman on reception arranged this for us but I felt that if I had not asked it wouldn't have been offered. We had cereal but no spoons so used the tea spoons in our room. There were no dressing gowns or slippers in our king size room. There is no one on reception from midnight but there was a notice saying you could call 0 on your room phone if assistance needed. There was rubbish in the bedside cabinet. On the plus side the room was spacious. The bed was very comfortable and shower good. There is parking in front of this building for 4 cars and street parking at no charge. I would stay here again but for longer than 1 night then we could enjoy Portsmouth and get to know it better.
Lovely hotel, our room was nicely decorated and comfy bed. Only thing that lets this hotel down is parking Only space for 3 cars there is on street parking but spaces were all full when we arrived and also once we came back in evening. Good location within walking distance of local attractions if you can get parked.
I unfortunately was in the dreaded room 5. It's very small but that isn't really the issue... It's usability. I'm 5'6. So not tall but not tiny. One mirror in the bathroom was hung so high I couldn't see into it at all and there's not even a main bathroom mirror... Just one that pulls out and tilts down but it's so high my neck cramped from having to look up at everything. I gave up and tried to get ready in the main room but it's very small. Breakfast was just OK... Not great coffee and not even whole milk for coffee. It's clean and well located and the staff are very friendly but not sure I'd stay here again given the option.
I’ve never stayed in a nicer hotel in England for £85. Clean, tidy, new modern decoration. Bathroom & shower was very nice. Bed was very comfortable. It was very kind to get free New Forest bottled water. Abigail was very nice and helpful. Honestly 5* all round
5 star luxury that is affordable and friendly! The best hotel, a hidden gem. The staff were charming and helpful. Sacha on reception was courteous, informative and professional. The breakfast, room and dining area are at an exceptionally high standard, highly recommended. A perfect stay!
Nicest small hotel I've stayed at for a long time! Friendly helpful manageress and competitively priced compared to others in vicinity. Single room not large but well designed and spotlessly clean. Just eaten breakfast and it was up to the very high standard of everything else at this place. I can recommend the "eggs benedict"!
