We went today with my 4 year old and baby. Both children had great fun in the pool and the wave machine was great and very exciting for my 4 year old. The only thing that tarnished the whole experience was the state of the changing rooms and the areas around the pool. Considering we have not long been out of a pandemic, the general cleanliness was awful. The changing rooms were filthy and it made you not want to walk around in bare feet. There was rubbish on some of the sides around the pool and the steps in the pool area were brown and grubby. The swan slide was also gross and seemed to be mouldy which isn't very nice for young children. I understand that perhaps the centre may be busy but surely cleanliness should be a top priority these days. We were there 2 hours in total and not once did we see anyone clean the floors or areas in and around the changing rooms and pool. At £16 for two adults, a junior and infant, it wasnt too bad price-wise but you would expect it to be cleaner. We would go back again to swim as my boys loved it but would definitely wear flip flops in the changing rooms. After reading a lot of these Google reviews, it seems cleanliness is a big issue and has been mentioned many times and as long ago as 8 months. The issues surely should have been resolved by management by now.
Nice big pool and although facilities are a little dated, they are sufficient. Daughter loves her lessons and Sharon in particular is a great teacher. Good for just a splash with the kids, an adult swim and lessons. Only issues I find is parking is not adequate with some people appearing to abandon their cars in unofficial spaces
Lovely swimming pool but often they just don't do the wave bit, which is the reason we come. There is always a long wait to get in as well, with no pre-booking system, and it's a like "when people leave you can come in" system instead. The baby's area is great and so is the water slide. Staff aren't very helpful when you ask if there are waves.
Absolutely appalling, we joined the swimming lessons for my 8 month old son, my first encounter was with the swimming team who asked me to come down a few days beforehand and fill out the paperwork, once I got there I was informed they weren’t in that day. I turned up early on the Wednesday before our lessons and was left sitting there for 45 minutes whilst the member of the swimming team had a chat with her friends and fetched herself a coffee from the canteen. The temperature of the pool and changing area is so cold my son turned purple. The cleanliness is also awful, I had to throw away an entire set of his clothes after placing him in the playpen due to the stench of whatever substance seeped back through the coloured tiles, and it wasn’t a one off either, it just quite simply hadn’t been cleaned properly in a very long time. I won’t be setting foot in the place again.
Wanted to take my daughters swimming and found this place online and it looked perfect with the slide and waves. The price for a family swim was really good aswell and not to expensive. We went on a Saturday and it wasnt as busy as i was expecting. Whilst inside I went to take my daughters on the slide the life guard told us we was not allowed to use it as we did not have a wrist band and that you have to pay extra to use the slide as it cost more to pump the water up the slide . I asked where I get the wrist bands and I was told I would need to go back to reception which would mean getting changed. Anyway they could have told use this at reception when paying for the swim, or even on the website as it does not mention that you have to pay extra to use the flume.
This is a wonderful swimming pool, bright and safe with so much to do with children of all ages and plenty of room to swim BUT the changing rooms are abysmal! You are asked to take your shoes off but many don’t. Why? Because the wet floors are already filthy with mud and hairs from people putting on their shoes when they leave. Why are there no places to store your shoes? There are very few changing cubicles. This is more in line with a changing room in a gym rather than a pool. My advice is to always bring flip flops and keep them on until you get to the pool.
I’m a member of the gym thought I’d try this pool with son and his friend as might be cheaper than hitchin and they have a flume. Flume was extra £3 per child which I thought was a bit expensive as it was about the same price to swim hitchin cost £8.50 for one paying adult and 2 children, this cost £12.20 for 2 children no cost for me as in the membership I usually have a swim there are no swimming lanes I appreciate it more of a place for kids on the weekend. A section is roped off at the deep end I swim in their thinking it’s the area for anyone who wants to swim got whistle blew at me by two lifeguard to say your not allowed. They didn’t come over directly to say why so not sure. We were there for over a hour and the wave machine wasn’t on in that time which was a disappointment to the kids. The pool could do with a good clean a couple of areas in the actually pool smelled strongly of urine.
In Half term and the small children's area was closed, they then decided to keep dividing up the pool space corralling the people into smaller spaces. Most lockers in the mens didn’t have locks. Changing room was very cold, toilets in poor condition and hairdryer didn’t work. Pool was nice but badly run
Absolutely awful and upsetting. I was a loyal member at the gym for just under a year. It is an expensive membership but I enjoyed the classes so I continued and had nothing but praise for the staff. Then more and more I would be charged for 'missing' or 'cancelling' classes that I had actually attended, and the staff on reception never seemed to care, or want to help! I was then injured, and sought advice on suspending or cancelling my membership. I received no help online or via phone, where my questions were not answered and they seemed more interested in persuading me to keep my membership than having any kind of understanding for my changed circumstances. I was also not informed of a notice period for cancelling the membership, despite this conversation. They then have the audacity to send bullying emails, adding more and more to the 'final bill', and caring nothing for the person on the other end of the equation, who up until then had had nothing but praise for the place. So disheartening to see a place care so little for their customers, and be so obviously greedy.
Swimming pool is good. Archaic open plan changing rooms need updating. Not suitable if taking children of different genders. There are a couple of private cubicles not suitable for family changing.
