Quiet, genuinely interesting little museum, which also kept my 5-year-old interested, and it was pretty educational for him, too. It's in a well-cared-for C18 house overlooking the town. The voluntary staff are friendly, informative and try very hard to make sure you have a good time. Ask to see the Victorian schoolroom over the road. £3 to get in, £1 for kids.

Great little museum with lots of local history. Appledore has a fascinating ship building history and more besides. Worth a visit for all age groups.

Worth a wander about if it's raining, or if you're a real maritime geek. Probably not ideal for the casual tourist as it's a little pricey for a family

We Went in here for the first time today even though we've been coming here since 1993, it's fabulous and so fascinating, even the old schoolroom opposite is really authentic. £3 well spent and the staff are really friendly as like all Appledorians 😄
