Moretonhampstead Motor Museum is home to a collection of over 100 vintage vehicles, from Victorian horse-drawn carts to cars, motorcycles and vans.

Story

We have over 100 vintage vehicles, from Victorian horse-drawn carts to cars, motorcycles and light commercial vehicles from pre-1920s to the 1990s. Run by two local motoring enthusiasts, Frank Loft and Pete Lofts, the museum is housed in a newly refurbished bus depot in Moretonhampstead, Devon. The collection is complemented by motoring artefacts and automobilia, and the viewable restoration workshop makes it more than just a museum.

We found this place by accident. Very enthusiastic guy called Frank gave us an introductory talk, before letting us loose to explore. Absolutely amazing selection of cars and motorcycles. Was well worth the visit.

Wonderful place with a very knowledgeable gentleman who clearly loves historic cars. Good range of cars to keep you interested, the only slight criticism (and it is a minor one) is that there could be more space around the cars to be able to have a better look.

This collection is obviously a labour of love by the owner (Frank), with some outstanding examples of cars, motorbikes, scooters and motoring memorabilia through the ages. Worth a visit by all, not just motoring enthusiasts. Frank gave us a brief overview of his collection before letting us loose to inspect all of the exhibits. The reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that it is a bit crowded (with cars) and it would be a luxury to be able to walk around each car, especially the cream of the collection. Also an opportunity to take some photographs of the individual cars. We are in Devon a couple of times a year and will pop in at least once a year to remind us of his fabulous collection. Excellent value for money.
