What a bonus when visiting Clovelly! We got to see and touch donkeys including a 2 week year old baby Donkey! The young kids were also allowed to get on the older Donkeys which was great! The lady who looked after them was so welcoming and friendly and a must do if you visit Clovelly!
Clovelly Donkey Stables is a great place to take kids on a day out to the historic and picturesque village of Clovelly in Dorset. It is located near the car park at the top of the village and consequently has easy access if you don’t want to travel into the village of Clovelly. It is a worthwhile stop for you if you are willing do so. The donkey stables is a good place to visit.
Lovely, we were invited to pat the donkeys. Their carers were very good and knowledgeable. The donkeys were calm and clearly used to visitors. Lovely.

Clovelly is a beautiful place to experience, with no visit complete before meeting the donkeys and mules at the donkey stables. In fact if you only see the donkeys and don't walk down to the bay your visit won't be waisted.
After driving over an hr to see the donkeys at Clovelly, we was very disappointed, 7 donkeys just standing in the yard just looking at the floor, it was a lovely sunny day but we couldn't get any where nearer than 3 ft due to wooden barrier and electric fence. The over night stalls where disgusting, and my intentions to sponsor quickly evaporated because it was sad to see. No staff where available on site to talk to...spoke to a lady that worked for Clovelly in the visitor centre about our concerns, she informed us they where not connected to Clovelly..... but a little confused with this because the yard and stables are next to the pottery and soap shop.
During the long off-season you can visit the Clovelly donkeys and mules at their stables. We visited in February and got to read information about them and see the awards they've won. The staff introduced us to a few and there were no less than 11 with the oldest being about 32 years old.
