Our local UTC for Newton Abbot, a minor injuries unit situated on Jetty Marsh Road. Have had scans, tests and treatment here over the years, always had a freindly welcome, the staff are excellent. Parking is quite expensive and there is usually few spaces available so you could use the bus, Stagecoach run the 75 to and from Decoy or Newtake via the town centre.
We are very lucky to have such caring and efficient professionals staffing this clean and bright unit. Thank you to everyone from the volunteer in reception, the receptionist in the Minor Injuries Unit, the triage staff, the radiologist and the clinical specialist in the fracture clinic, who all offered me friendly and efficient support and care today. I have taken a star off because the cafe was closed and it would make such a difference to have access to an area that offers fresh drinks and food.
Went to A and E on Monday 11th July 2022 with my teenager. The blonde lady he saw there was amazing and put my very nervous and anxious son at ease straightaway, explaining everything thoroughly. So kind and understanding. Sorry I’m not allowed to name her on here - but she really is a credit to your department. Thank you so much.
Was seen near the closing time and the doctor/nurse I saw was so rude. I noticed him being ride with others too. I had a piece of stone in my eye and he was rough getting it out. He was flicking the piece out with a needle in a reckless way. I had to go to Torbay hospital the next day as he had not got it all out and they said he had done a lot of damage to my eye. Other than him the hospital was good, clean and the other staff seemed nice. I just had a bad experience with him.
Got here upon opening at 8am only to be met by a que as no one was in on reception apparently no one knew who was meant to be in that day.... for those of us who queued before the receptionist eventually arrived, it appears there was no need for us to que as the order of the que was completely ignored and people like us who arrived earlier were punished and pushed back in the order of being seen by impatient and selfish people assuming they take priority.....need to ensure better staffed next time....
First interaction with Newton Abbot Community Hospital. Building very modern and relaxing, reception staff very welcoming and helpful and guided my wife to a treatment access area. The allocated nurse however, although helpful to a point, upset my wife, and seemed politically motivated and said this was never meant to be a walk in centre and was just put upon us. We came here because it was classed as a walk in centre and being new to the area we had not had a chance to register with a local surgery. There is no point taking frustrations out on 'patients in need' because of what an individual working for the NHS thinks is right or wrong. Put your frustrations to the right authorities and do not upset or talk down to patients. I expect better than that of a nurse, who in my opinion are generally awesome people.
A big thank you to all of the staff in the minor injuries unit. From first entering the hospital on Sunday 3rd April am, the staff were friendly and helpful, making myself, a nervous patient, feel relaxed. The service I received was excellent from start to finish. Thank you ALL.
We are on holiday in Devon and our 4-year old fractured her elbow so we attended a&e. Upon arriving, it was clear that this was a modern, light hospital with easy signage and the reception team were very friendly. My daughter was sick at reception and on herself which was upsetting but the staff made her feel not ashamed and really looked after her which is why I am leaving this review. From there, the nurses were great and she was looked after so well. A very good experience and a much more pleasant waiting room, car park, toilets and overall experience than our local hospital. Thanks
Superb staff, facilities, hygiene and treatment. We have always had excellent care here, when needed. However, the accoustics in the main reception and clinic waiting area are very echoey and make it very difficult to hear when your name is called.
A fantastic, efficient, professional service from arrival to departure. The staff made me feel welcomed...the receptionist, initial consultation and the x-ray department. So grateful for the MIU department instead of troubling A&E at Torbay. Many thanks for your kindness, advice & treatment for a Fractured bone in my foot. 27.12.21
