I've been going to Nethergate medical centre since I moved to Dundee 4yrs ago. I would and have recommend here because they've treated me so brilliantly. Especially when I got COVID in the first lockdown and was on my own, they were so supportive. The receptionists are lovely too, especially Jackie. Best surgery.
absolutely awful. i handed in a letter nearly a month ago which my GP has to sign in order for me to progress with my army application. after weeks of phoning and being told "we will send it out at the end of the week" i have now been told i need to pay £25 for it to be sent?? it was not explained to me why they will charge this after i had asked. have heard another applicant being charged £40 so i guess i got off lucky. absolutely awful, wish i could give 0 stars.
One of the worst experiences I've ever had with a GP practice. Insanely hard to get through to. I've just called 4 times and keep getting cut off. One of the receptionists is incredibly rude, 100% of the time. Shows no empathy or compassion. The first time I registered here and wanted to make an appointment I had a severe UTI to the point I was in so much pain I couldn't move without crying and I was passing blood. I was advised "If it really is an emergency you can go to the hospital or call the emergency afterhours service. Otherwise you can call tomorrow at 8am to make an appointment". I had arrived at about 10am in the morning. As this type of infection is a regular occurrence for me I've been hospitalised twice in the past I knew exactly the antibiotics required so waited till the following morning so i could make the appointment. I got another Much friendlier and helpful receptionist who then advised, that I absolutely should have been seen by a doctor and they would have made room for me. Too little to late at this point. I received a phone call from the doctor that day then had to take a urine sample the following day and was prescribed a different type of antibiotic to treat the infection that I already knew I had and told them of the following day I finished the 3 day course of anitbiotics I called back to say there were absolutely no improvements, in fact it continues to get worse, I tried to book an appointment and AGAIN was told unless it is what an unqualified receptionist deems an emergency I'd have to go to the hospital or call the after hours surgery. The pain and stress was unbearable so I went to hospital, they took urine samples and found I was immune to the antibiotics prescribed and ended up prescribing me the antibiotics I originally requested that I know to be tried, tested and works everytime for me. I spent over 10 days of agonising pain, passing blood and at risk of a kidney infection because I was "screened" by an unqualified and horribly rude and uncompassionate person. And I wish it got better from there... but it has been the same with every single interaction I've had since. Thankgod I'm going home to Australia with far more compassionate and experienced healthcare care providers. I'd give 0 stars but that would be unfair on the doctors as once the receptionists deem you worthy of an appointment and make a booking for you the Doctors have all been quite lovely. Shame about the "gatekeepers" though....
Been with this practice for 4 years and it's one of the worst ones I had in my life. Doctors don't care about their patients and the receptionist is incredibly rude. They always speak down to you and just make you feel really unwelcome in there.
Followed instructions given by GP and was chastised for it. Spoke to them regarding side effects from a particular medicine and GP couldn't care less and can't wait to get you off the phone. Find another practice if possible.
Brilliant doctor surgery. Doctors are helpful and knowledgable about the issues you are going to see about. Reception staff are nothing but pleasant and helpful, have never had a bad experience with them. Every doctors surgery is crazy at 8am trying to get an appointment, like every place else they are busy but the reception staff try to accommodate where possible.
Very rude reception staff. They serve as front of house to any practice, as a result they should have 5* personal skills, the receptionists at this practice do not. They are not helpful, rude on the phone and have no respect for patients. Found them to be very unhelpful when it came to finding my results, said it would take them 4 weeks for results to come through, yet when I went to my home practice it took them a week... Only gave them 2 stars as doctors are passable. Dr La Hay was great and Dr Dorward was decent on my second visit but wasn't helpful when I went to her with mental concerns in my first year of university, told me I was 'fed up' if only she were right . I wouldn't recommend this practice to anyone and I hope they put their reception staff through training and/or fire them and get in decent people to greet clients.
Do not register here I'd you are elderly forget dont register regardless of age. Receptionist are overly rude and do not know how to do there job. The staff here are the people that give the nhs frount of house staff the bad name incompetent people no idea of how to do there job. They give erdely patients the run around when they should be staying safe indoors. Also doctors have no time for the patients. Doctors rush them out the door dont put them at ease and pass the buck to the hospital for things like pain relief which in tail make them feel like they are bother the doctors. Stay away at all cost find a practice with staff that have time for you even in a pandemic and that nothing is a problem.
We have been patients here for over 10 years and we have recomnended many people to the practice. I can honestly hand on heart say the service I have recived here is second to none. I always feel safe and extremely well looked after. The doctors go above and beyond for their patients. I have NEVER had anything but 5 star treatment. Thank you to all the doctors, nurses and back ground staff who work so hard for us x I have no family or friends that are in anyway affiliated to the practice I'm just a patient.
Dr Coull is by far the best doctor in Dundee, she always takes time to listen to her patients - 5 stars for Dr Coull. In fact most of the female Dr's at this practice are good, but Dr Coull is top class. The male Doctor Dr la hay is absolutely rubbish, he's an arrogant, male chauvinist who should not be dealing with people at all! Th sooner he is replaced by a good female Dr the better! Unfortunately there is only one of the reception staff any good at their job & that is Jackie - 5 stars for Jackie. The practice nurses are excellent too so 5 stars for them. Been a patient at this practice for 13 years.
