This place is definitely worth a visit. You can immerse yourself in history and imagine what these people might have looked like in real life. There is no admission fee, but online reservations are required. Amazing collections. As a musician, it’s so nice to see portraits of English musicians and composers Handel and Purcell. We paid for the special exhibition, which was Henry XIII and his 6 wives; very very interesting to learn the history through historical portraits.

I absolutely love the National Portrait Gallery. This remarkable institution is a treasure trove of history captured in pictures. The sheer amount of artwork in here is staggering. There are portraits done in paint, sculpture and photos and all done to the highest standards, but be warned you can easily lose hours here. The portraits in this collection cover hundreds of years and show not only key moments in history but also in pop culture. It's great for art lovers and history buffs alike and I couldn't recommend it enough. All the staff are very friendly and welcoming, and if someone offers you a free map, take it.
So delighted the NPG has reopened. It was with such a sense of familiarity that I started with the Tudors at the top, then would my way down. In addition to the stunning collection, the special Six Lives exhibition to show the individuality of Henry's wives was well worth the visit - very cleverly curated. Sadly, the rooftop Portrait restaurant doesn't do afternoon tea any longer - only fine dining.

As it’s name suggests: National Portrait Gallery. You’ll find portraits of prominent figures here. Most portraits are labelled with their background story which I find very helpful in enhancing my experience. The museum is free which is a plus plus points for us broke uni students. Do Squeeze in a pit stop here after a long day of walking or shopping around the area Some might not find it ad interesting if you aren’t familiar with the people featured on the portraits but dont let them stop you from visiting! Everything is simply a google search away. Also pay attention to how each painting was done, from the angle and the lighting, artists are truly magicians 10/10 A must visit!
The place is located perfectly in one of the most touristy areas of the city. It has 4 floors of art and the 5th floor is a restaurant with astonishing views of the city.
