I gave up my NHS management job role to support my parent with end of life care. Having held positions in a number of authorities across NHS, Housing and Social Care it beggared belief for the amount of running ,fetching,filling gaps and having to ask / argue it took just to achieve appropriate care standards / services in this my home area. Sometime ago I saw senior positions being advertised for Intergrated Services and yet my actual experience was to find my parent and I in the centre of the most none joined up service imaginable. Even some involved clinicians complained about 'blockages' whilst we the recipients trundled on, often at great personal expense both emotionally and I admit financially. Now I find myself needing help and support of our local NHS , and as could have been predicted direct correspondence with our commissioners those who technically identify and creatively plan delivery of our care , I too face 'the blockages'.
