Avoid Avoid Avoid this place. Very unprofessional staff. For water waited 15minute, for starter waited 35 minutes. Some waisted kids with cider bottles in hands in and out from conversation with waitress we understood that some of them was staff on day of and they was walking behind counter to. Eventually we decided not to wait in this miserable place and just left. Not worth to wright anything else... Avoid this place
As Sean's Bar and The Castle Inn didn't sell food, we decided to try My Melody. The food was perfect for what we paid and for what we were looking for.
The restaurant is right next to the Athlone Castle and has a small but apt menu. The sandwiches were delicious and the portion is good.
Visited the my melody restaurant food was amazing and specially out steak was delicious we enjoyed the time there after asking we found out the Cheff have more than 18 years experience really recommend that place every one should try that
Been there last week with family. food was freshly cooked and delicious. Claudia guided us for food choices. desert was amazing. defo recommended.
Not very hygienic! The table wasn't cleaned before we were seated there were all water marks on the table. I went to use the bathroom and there was no sanitiser anywhere throughout that I could see. After a while waiting we had our order taken. After a nice while waiting food arrived with no drinks and one set of knife and fork. We had to ask for drinks and another set of knife and fork, salt pepper and sauces. The waitress came down with knife and fork in her had, not even wrapped in a napkin, with her fingers all over them. Again we had to ask for drinks and the other bits. In the end we just got up and left, we didn't feel if was up to standard, the waiting staff were not very pleasant and just felt it was very unhygienic and wouldn't have felt comfortable eating their food. For a restaurant in such a great location it's a pity about the service and standards given. Especially when the tourists return.
This was one of the most horrific experiences we've had as a family from not having adequate drinks to all steaks being cooked the same regardless of what we told them their peppercorn sauce was bistro gravy, their pasta an abomination . DO NOT RECOMMENDED better of going to McDonald's instead
Was left waiting three quarters of an hour for our food. I eventually had to cancel with the waitress. At that stage, as hungry as I was I genuinely did not want whatever the chef was going to deliver. Taking so long to prepare the meals, I didn't trust whatever we would have eventually been served. Something deeply wrong in the kitchen here. Best avoided, there is no shortage of alternative nice restaurants in Athlone where you will be served the food you ordered before the next ice age!
Please don't visit this restaurant. Was in Athlone last weekend and had the misfortune to have this excuse for a restaurant recommended by tourist information in the castle for good outdoor dining? Finally received food after waiting an hour. Took quite a while to be given menu's. Tables were sticky. Service was terrible. Staff were totally inexperienced and kept delivering the food to the wrong tables and didnt much care. Owner put more tables up outside that were folding picnic tables and were grotty and unsteady. No attempt was made to hide the dirty stains on them. There was no attempt at social distancing under the gezebo. The food was mediocre and not worth what we paid for it. My partner said the mens toilets were disgusting and the womens were no better. Makes me wonder what the kitchen was like. The owner crammed as many people in as possible with untrained staff and took full advantage of the fact that there was a scarcity of restaurants with outside dining to rip people off and give them the worst experience possible for their hard earned money. Shame on you.
Been here a few times and the staff are always very pleasant and attentive. The portions are very generous and food very good quality and decent prices. Surprised at the other negative reviews as I have been here 4 times since they reopened in June and always had a pleasant experience.
