The doctors and nurses I have encountered here over 15 years are lovely. The reception staff, however, to be fair - one in particular are openly rude, unprofessional, and seem to delight in being as unhelpful as possible. This level of customer service is doing this practice a huge disservice. I have given 1 star as, apart from anything else, it’s almost impossible to get an appointment. Terrible system.
I've always found the staff on Reception, and the doctors, to be very polite and helpful and I've been with this practice for over 10 years. I would echo comments from another review, medical staff, especially front-line staff are under a great deal of pressure and the public can be very demanding. Patients are waiting longer for an appointment but that's not the fault of the staff, that's just the way it is just now. I have no complaints and I'm sure if I had an emergency, I would see a GP sooner if needed.
Great doctors but one of the receptionists is extremely rude. Once I was told "can't you see we are busy" and the second time I tried to order my lab results - I was told she would order them, came to pick them up and another receptionist told me they had never been ordered for me. Customer service could be better - people rely on you to get their appts and results!
EDIT The team at the centre kindly called me up in response to this review and explained that the “maximum safe capacity” message only applies to appointments for the same day, and that they are always able to schedule non-urgent appointments in advance. I was able to get booked in with an appointment — Called up on Friday and Monday at exactly 8:45, and was greeted with an automated message about the maximum safe capacity for the day having been reached. Not sure how this is possible as the website is under maintenance and the phone lines were closed before 8:45.
I had an appointment with Rachel the nurse this morning at 9.20. Taken right on time and was so lovely and reassuring despite me being the seventeenth person she had seen since 7.30am. We are so lucky to have the health care professionals we have despite all the lack of funding.
Horrible reception team. I was checking if my granddaughter’s prescription has been completed, as I had already called the pharmacy which did not answer my call, to be told ‘you are not the next of kin, so why are you talking to me’ which doesn’t make sense since I am her next of kin. The automated voice tells you that abusive calls won’t be tolerated; they should practice what they preach. They have no manners and no right to be working for the general public. This particular staff member constantly speaks down to you as if you are inconvenience to her day, and has been doing this as long as I’ve been with the practice.
Updated - still cannot get through to reception after 2-3 months of calling at different days and times. As the line says the surgery is closed and hangs up. Beyond frustrated. I think reception are just switching off the phones. Called this morning within the stated opening hours on the NHS website - only to hear an answering machine message saying 'the surgery is now closed' and for the line to go dead. With no advice how to get in touch. This was at 8.40am - with the surgery opening at 7.30am. And so please be aware if you call within the correct operating hours - you may receive this message. Absolutely infuriating and abysmal service. When I do get through I have to state my issue is life threatening to get an appointment. And put off getting in touch with my GP due to the fact it's 1. Impossible to even get initial contact with the surgery 2. When you finally break through after say 1 hour of trying random times on the phone the staff are incredibly rude. NHS please sort this out, it's putting patients at risk here.
I switched to this GP a few years ago after a horrendous experience and I am so thankful I did. These past two weeks I’ve had two separate health issues and both of my doctors listened and offered great advice and referrals. I’ve also found the receptionists can be a little cold upon entering but never rude to me. However a special shoutout goes to June who is the sweetest person to speak with, such amazing empathy. Both of my doctors were kind, empathetic and very calming, a real human connection. Is it hard to get through sometimes? Absolutely. But that’s not the fault of one surgery when they’re working for an underfunded service in the UK.
The Dr's at this practice are really good at listening in a compassionate and non judgemental manner. This has been the most positive experience I've had with a gp practice to date. Long waiting times to get a non urgent appointment but that's a problem with the funding and the NHS generally.
I've seen a few different doctors here and they have all be so helpful and caring. To get an appointment you do sometimes have to wait in quite a long queue on the phone but I think that's the way it is for a lot of places these days.
