nnLove this pub! The food is spot on, especially the build your own burgers for £5. absolute bargain and so tasty. Always end up staying way longer than planned because there’s loads to do, play some pool, darts, Wii and even board games. The jukebox is brilliant too, proper good tunes all night. Really friendly vibe, definitely my new go-to spot.
I will miss this pub in my whole life. I was staying in chandler’s ford for business for 3 weeks. This place was an amazing drinkin g place for me. Thanks for the kindness. A true English pub. Maybe my English was not enough to be social but this must be a great place to be social!!! Cheers.nnP.s it’s busy and loud on Fridays but generally quite and calm
Came here to watch Aston Villa vs. Bournemouth while I had a bite and a pint.nIt was 2pm on a Sunday and the place was pretty busy with a good noise level where you can still hear people speaking to you. It was also a very friendly atmosphere everywhere you turned and everyone seemed to know everyone else so you know it's a solid go-to spot for the locals. Despite being pretty busy I was able to walk right in and find myself a spot in front of of the large screen near the front door to watch Villa play.nThe food was also nice. I personally had the hand-carved beef Sunday roast which came with mash, stuffing, roast potatoes, vegetables, and a large Yorkie with a side boat of gravy. The meat was a little bit fatty but other than that everything was delicious. You don't even have to go up to the bar to order anything because on the menus, there is a QR code you can scan that will bring up their app where you can order food and drinks directly from your table to your table. If you're the shy type this will be a great feature for you. The drinks were a bit on the pricey side I found but the food is very reasonably priced.nThe staff also seemed to be quite nice and laid back as well.nThere is a large screen in the pool room and two other large screens in the main area of the pub along with three or four smaller screens scattered about all showing the football matches. Definitely a great place to sit and watch while getting a bite.nnVilla also pumped Bournemouth 4-0 which really tied the experience together!
I was genuinely upset when they didn't have oat milk, which meant I couldn't have a coffee, which I was desperate for and hadn't been able to get all morning.nThey more than made up for it with the food and service.nYou really can't go wrong with a Greene King.nRoast, curry, pie, burger and puddings we're all perfect.nWill definitely go again.nHappy.nNow, wheres the nearest coffee shop...n
When entering, what threw me back is how busy it was, I'm guessing the lower price of food and drink is the appeal here. The place is definitely cheap/cheaper than others around the area. A bottle of Prosecco on a Friday night was £10, in the Cleveland it's £31....£31 CRAZY! Anyway let's carry on with the review. The price was absolutely brilliant but unfortunately you get what you pay for, the chicken tenders were tiny and not what I expected and were ok in taste but looked like the drips/left overs in a freezer bag. The burger, even with the extra bits was just bland, hard and was probably the worst burger I've ever had. The fries to go along with the burger were non existent, must have ran out of fries as I got a babies handful and all very small, left over like bits. I wouldn't eat here again but I would definitely drink in here again as the price for alcohol was very good. They do need a good IPA craft beer though as I'm not a fan of gassy lagers. Guinness was decent enough though.nnEdit I have been to The Monks before and live around the corner so I know that you guys are a sports pubs and a very good one at that but unfortunately the food isn't the highest quality. I've worked in a kitchen for Greene King before so I know of the ingredients. The Cleveland definitely is not a restaurant, still a pub but their food is shockingly bad for the price, so at least your food was cheap. The only thing I can see appeal wise from the burger is how cheap it is. I like a good burger and had some amazing ones Hundred in Spain, Beefy Boys in Oxford, Steamtown do a fairly good one as well but I'm sorry yours comes no where near the likes of them. I will be back for drinks and possibly to play some darts, pool etc. Still enjoyed myself and like the fact the drinks are cheap...please put a craft beer in the mix on tap though.
