The setting along the Exe River and the history of the property lends a lot of charm. It used to be a paper mill. Best of all, the pub, which is connected, has good food and drink. In nice weather, you can even take a pint of cider or ale out to a patio area or picnic table along the river. Only a 15-minute walk from the cathedral and the Royal Albert museum. Highly recommended!
A nice pub right on the river. Sitting outside on a pleasant day was magical. The sound of water from the weir was relaxing. Good food and the whole experience was very relaxing. The staff were friendly and professional. Cannot review the rooms as we did not stay.
From the moment we stepped into the Mill on the Exe, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. Celebrating my son’s birthday, the venue offered a feast not just for our palates but for our eyes too, with its stunning views and trendy ambiance. The menu catered to all tastes, ensuring that everyone, from my university-aged son and daughter, to the most discerning of diners, found something to relish. The food was a culinary delight, with every dish perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection. Coupled with the comfortable seating, the atmosphere was just right for a leisurely meal and some entertaining people-watching. The staff deserve a special mention for their polite and efficient service, which added to the overall enjoyment of our visit. With easy parking and a central location, the Mill on the Exe stands out as a beacon of hospitality. And as for the scenic views, they provided the perfect backdrop to a wonderful dining experience. This place truly ticks all the boxes for a memorable outing. What’s not to love? We’re already looking forward to our next visit! Service: 5/5 Location: 5/5 Food & Drinks: Outstanding
I hosted a society dinner here and staff were so accommodating and helpful. They made the process really easy. The location is lovely inside and out, especially on a sunny day looking out over the river. The food is also really good, if a bit expensive. I particularly recommend the mussels. We had an amazing time.
All-in-one! We found it very suitable for our needs and everything was just as we needed: easy to reach and to park the car, walking distance from the city center, nice dinner, great drinks a peaceful overnight stay in a newly refurbished room with all comforts and a very good breakfast, I highly recommend Rooms: We slept in one of the rooms facing the river, so quiet. It was brand new and clean. The bed was big and comfortable Food & drinks: Food is classic pub of good quality. The beer is produced by the owners of the Mill and is also available in the rooms. I saw they also have a good choice of wines and spirits
Overall a lovely pub with a beautiful outdoor area and view of the river. Staff are friendly and helpful. The only disappointment was the food. Ordered a beef burger which seemed very processed and definitely not worth high price. I would go back for drinks but wouldn't eat there again.
The food is fantastic here! If you're looking for a great Roast, this is the spot in Exeter. As well as that, the staff genuinely seem to enjoy their work and it shows. Always very clean, good vibes and great serviceService: 5/5
Lovely place, great location, value for money not so good, found it quite expensive for what I had . £7.25 for a hot dog and £5.75 for a pint of cider - hot dog was rubbish - looking at other people's portions as well they looked quite small and prices were fairly high. Probably pop in for a quick pint but would have second thoughts about dining there.
Previously visited for a dinner, which was lovely. On a return visit for breakfast, it was completely different. Hot drinks served nearly cold & simple poached eggs over cooked on rock solid toast. Far from acceptable for the prices charged.
We came in for an early dinner after spending the day @Crealythemepark and were very pleasantly relieved to have awesome steak with fish and chips for the little one. Fantastic food, lovely staff, very relaxed and warm setting. Highly recommend! Food & drinks: Get the skin on chips, they're amazing!
