Centrally located to get some drinks and pub food. Friendly service staff and the daily managers specials is well worth and good value The roof top garden is lovely and the toilets are beautiful
Such cheap drinks that do the job, the dance floor is always fun and the music is great variety! Great crowd and great times. I highly suggest for a night out. My favourite part is that I don’t feel like I’m surrounded by college kids
Very nice pub in the centre of town, good range of food and beverages for a average/good price. Staff are friendly and ques are quick to be resolved.. food service was fast and drinks was superb. A very good wetherspoons branch.
Popped in for a coffee on Saturday 4th Dec in the evening after Xmas shopping unfortunately the over the top doormen I had a Salcombe gin bag from Exeter Xmas Market. was told ur not allowed in with that even though the bottle was gift wrapped and the package had a bow in it he also thought it was weird we only wanted coffee once we walked back to the car at John Lewis we went back for coffee Once inside the atmosphere was good packed solid only the outside top sun deck was empty but cold and u can see the cathedral from there as shown When I ordered the coffees which the barman said did u say coffee did I hear u wrong? There was no sugar or sweetners for the coffee Apart from that it was good night
1star: 1h30 mn wait Edit: 3 star. Has the reputation to serve microwaved food. Although there's truth to it, the food is decent if compared to the price. Put a one star review for the 2h wait. Came back when the place was less crowded and got served quite fast. The floral terasse on top is rather cute and usually less full than the rest. Price for pints remains the most competitive in town for students. Elevator is really smelly, this needs to be sorted. Otherwise, polite and helpful staff.
We had a meal upstairs. The floor was incredibly sticky - obviously not been cleaned. Our first table had a drip from the aircon. We opted for the special offer half chicken. This arrived quickly but was barely warm enough. The Mexican rice I had was congealed. It was supposed to come with lemon and herb mayo but it just tasted like ordinary mayo. On the plus side the beer was cheap and good.
3 storey Spoons with a roof garden and log fire. 2.39 a pint. Fee WiFi. Very central.
Popped in to get some lunch as wanted something easy and quick but not McDonald's. Told it would be 20/25 minute wait, not a problem. Ordered food, an hour later it arrived. When asked the only person serving food how much longer it would be at 50 minutes, we were told it'll be with you soon. Only one person serving food, one person behind the bar. People having to clear their own tables, dirty tables, glasses piling up. One family asked for a refund and left. As we were about to approach the bar for a refund and leave it came out, as mentioned an hour later. On the lead up to Xmas and a Sunday, you'd expect more staff due to the increased footfall, blatant poor management from the manager. This is nit aimed at the only 2 staff members that were by themselves upstairs, they did what they could.
Reasonably comfortable, good pricing. And a fantastic View! I would strongly recommend going up to the beer garden on the roof, the view off towards the cathedral is just incredible, particularly at night when all you can see are the lights. Strongly recommended as a pub!
Wrong time of year to review the place, it was slammed. Staff were great, due to the volume of people, table times for food were over an hour wait, which you have to understand with the Christmas markets on and the flood of people coming through the doors. Some people don't. I think the staff coped very admirably considering. On a lighter note, I would love to see the 'bar supervisor' from there and the one in the Leyland Lion have a picture together, I had to have a double take it wasn't the same person . Just my 2 cents
