Definitely not a 4 star hotel as they describe it on the website. Just an old hotel with no sign of recent renovation. Everything is old and not maintained at high standards. Breakfast was quite poor for the price and the staff were rather rude when asking any question. Was turned around when asked for a table for dinner because of not having a reservation. They said they couldn’t accommodate because they were fully booked. But the restaurant was empty. My biggest shock though was the swimming’s pool changing room. It was really shabby. I haven’t experienced something like that ever before, not even in a public swimming pool.

Rooms are a good size. Generally in good condition and decoration. A few scratches and marks around but nothing horrible. Reception staff very friendly but at times there should be more than one on the counter as they juggle check-ins, phone calls and Spa entry. Spa is a bit of an odd addition. A pool that looks nice but isn't big enough to swim in, a brilliant steam room and a hot sauna. No showers in the changing rooms. Restaurant food is good, service is well meaning but a bit of an inconsistent fail. Check your bill and watch out for auto added service charge.

Had a great evening at the Adele tribute night at the Mercure Hotel T wells. The meal was excellent, the tribute show was brilliant. The staff were great. Polite helpful, chatty & smiling. Well done and thanks for a great night. 🤗

We only use the pool, (for swimming lessons,) which is small but pleasant. The swimming teachers are EXCELLENT. If I were a hotel guest I'd be disappointed by the 'leisure' facilities. The steam room is frequently out of order for weeks at a time. The jacuzzi no longer exists. The showers were recently cold for weeks, with no explanation, the shower in the disabled room is broken, squirting water everywhere but down. The changing rooms are cold and often grubby... A few weeks ago we found part of the edging on some steps coming away, leaving a sharp edge, exposed nails, and a dangerous trip hazard. We complained, and a young lad tried unsuccessfully to stick it back on with making tape. A second attempt with gaffa tape was slightly more successful. However when we returned the following week, we found it in exactly the same state. We complained again, and the receptionist acted surprised, despite being the same person we'd told the previous week. More attention to detail required.

Rooms are dated and a little shabby but all other areas of the hotel are great. Food is good quality and fairly priced, excellent choice at breakfast but the plates could be a little bigger. Staff are friendly and helpful. Would stay again if in the area
