Having rung up for an appointment with Dr Stone ,whom I have been with for nearly 20 years ,I was told I was no longer registered with her. It would be nice to know that, and I am not very happy about it. However, I was then told that the next appointment would be in a months time. Regardless, of the Dr. I find a months wait unexceptable. Just as well , I would class myself as urgent but still in need of a Drs, advice. I was also , being palmed off, by the reception staff. Not acceptable.

The customer service at Kingswood Surgery is appalling. It takes ages to get through them. It is either a busy line or no one answers the phone. I had my first midwife appointment before Christmas. The midwife forgot to give me the essential information for my first hospital appointment. I tried to call the surgery the last two weeks. I was first told she was on holiday and then told she left the surgery! Their receptionist was also very rude. When you ask them questions, all the said to you is "I don't know and I can't help". I also had a bad experience with them 2 years ago. I saw a doctor a few times for my eczema but it didn't help at all. When I asked for a referral to a dermatologist, this doctor referred me to another GP who has a special interest in dermatology in a very far village. I have never felt any "patient-centric" care from this surgery!

I understand there are staff issues with the NHS and GPs, however I have been disappointed by the level of care at Kingswood from things not really related to staff shortage. The problems have just been very basic operational issues. For example, I needed to take my daughter in for her 6 week post-birth check. We couldn't register her at the surgery and book her first appointment at the same time. Instead, we had to go away and complete the registration paperwork first, and only then book an appointment. Both my wife and I are already registered. I don't wish to publicly name the doctor, but they have repeated forgot to arrange/book required follow up appointments and referrals. At the 6 week appointment, the doctor said he'd book her immunisation jabs but forgot and we had to call up to remind them and get confirmation. The doctor also forgot to book an appointment with the paediatrician for a particular matter. Again, only by calling to follow up a few days later, did we get confirmation the referral letters would be sent out that day. These seem very basic operational matters, that just got missed and only by repeated follow ups did anything get done ...

My GP there was wonderful, and I would never hear a bad word against her. However the reception staff are RUDE. It seems they believe they have more medical knowledge than the drs. I don't think many people want to discuss sensitive medical information with them, only the doctor, but I remember being grilled to give further information. No. On top of this, this practice was responsible of negligence which led to the death of my father. And then during a mental health crisis, in which suicide was attempted, they dropped me from their list because I moved a quarter of a mile. I appreciate I was out of area, but the lack of sensitivity to dump me without the care of a primary GP and without someone to whom the mental health team could report back to was abhorrent. They could have kept me until I was out of immediate danger, but no, no flexibility, no patient care, no compassion. It drove me even lower, and my mother nearly lost two members of her family to the same practice holder's terrible skills as a doctor. I don't like to criticise anyone who works for the NHS, but this surgery is dire. Let the government treat medical care like a business if they must, but when doctors start doing that, there is something wrong.
