What a brilliant experience at the Colchester Matalan!nI popped over to the tills with a question about sizing, and Charley took one look at me and confidently declared I was an extra large... despite the small fact that I'm actually a small! We both had a good laugh, and thankfully his sense of humour was as good as his customer service.nWhen I picked out some pants, Charley assured me the size I'd chosen would be perfect, and he was absolutely spot on. Friendly, funny, approachable and genuinely helpful – exactly the sort of person who makes shopping a much more enjoyable experience.nCharley is a real credit to the Matalan team. Great customer service, plenty of laughs, and I'll genuinely look forward to my next visit... although I might remind him to book his next eye test first!
Visited recently, had avoided it for the last few years as it used to be a bit like a rummage sale! Far better on most recent trip, although in places it still felt a bit disorganised. Pretty good for getting bits for kids school stuff.

Went in and was greeted at the front door. Asked where I could find a specific item to save me wandering around the shop. Lots of choice in a range of sizes. Went to the fitting room, although a bit of a queue they were a good size. No wait for the self service tills. Very good quality clothes and comfy. Overall would definitely visit again!
I was really disappointed with my experience at Matalan. I went in to return dresses and was refused a refund by the manager, who instead made judgmental comments accusing me of wearing belts, lanyards, or jewellery that supposedly caused damage. I felt uncomfortable and unfairly blamed.nI had no choice but to contact customer service, who were polite, apologetic, and resolved the issue quickly. While I appreciate their help, no customer should be spoken to or judged in this way in store.
