Visited recently, had avoided it for the last few years as it used to be a bit like a rummage sale! Far better on most recent trip, although in places it still felt a bit disorganised. Pretty good for getting bits for kids school stuff.
Large newish store all on one level. Free parking bays outside store. Matalan very competitive on pricing with some bargains to be had. Store is well laid out with garment sizes and pricing easily visible. Mainly mens, women and kids clothes but some household products sold here as well. Sizing on some things can be variable, so recommend you to use changing rooms and try stuff on before purchase.
I'm surprised there surviving . The experience at the self-service tills is far from easy or convenient. This has always been a go-to place for the more mature ladies . I'm sure the tills must be a put off .
Lots of parking. Nice big store. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Very disappointing, I hadn't been to Matalan for some years. They appear to have had a makeover but the standard and choice of products had gone down while the prices had gone up.
They've got loads to look at. Really impressed with parking here, the disabled and parents with children bays are one and the same which is an excellent idea. Top marks!
Every time I come into the Colchester branch the que for the till is always so busy! No staff and people just wondering about. Honestly put me off coming here. To the manager, sort out a better use of your staff!
It was a bit untidy especially the jeans area. All was mixed up in style and size.
All ways got what you go there for all so very helpful at all times we go all the time so nice people there
