Resized my engagement ring for me, friendly, quick, efficient service! Really pleased with such a professional job.
Cliff was a superstar in helping create the dream ring for my fiance. Cliff handled a family heirloom which is over 40 years old, resizing the 18ct gold ring and replacing the existing sapphire with one he sourced for me to my specification. I will only buy jewellery from cliff in the future and will see him for our wedding bands in due course. Thanks cliff Becca loves the ring.
Both my engagement ring and wedding ring were made by C.J. Brooks seven years ago on the recommendation of my sister, they are completely beautiful and I would highly recommend his work, so much better quality than the high street jewellers. Such amazing craftsmanship and such a lovely man, we didn't know quite what we wanted for our wedding bands and had a budget to stick to, so Cliff talked us through all our options and found us the perfect design combination, no hard sell, just great advice and lots of patience! We couldn't be happier with the end result and this is seven years on! Hoping that at some point I'll have an eternity ring made to match the set...
25 years ago we had mine and my husbands wedding rings made by CJ Brooks. Fast forward,moved overseas I lost my engagement ring and my husband lost his wedding ring. We both decided to wait until we could get back to Colchester to ask about replacing them. I walked into the workshop on 15th October,explained the situation and that I flew back on 26th October.Few days later was called to come and pick my gemstone. Explained that hallmarking time was tight,however 4 days before my flight I was called to collect our rings. Beautiful,just beautiful.Excellent craftsmanship,fabulous customer service and a speedy turnaround. Thank you so much.Same great service and attention to detail as 25 years ago down on Cowdray Avenue. Wish I knew how to add a photo,they’re so beautiful!

Cliff was great - a true craftsman. Both myself and my husband had fixed ideas about what we did and didn’t want. Unlike other places, Cliff didn’t try to push a sale or anything, just offered suggestions and opinions based on his experience which we greatly appreciated. The turnaround was quick and the whole process was very easy from start to finish. We will definitely be back in the future, and will be sure to recommend Cliff to anyone we know who is in the market for jewellery.
Cliff made a bespoke engagement ring and it was better than I could have ever imagined, totally perfect. Since then we have trusted him with resizing a very sentimental ring which belonged to my Nan and he did a brilliant job, looking forward to using CJ Brooks to create our wedding bands in the future.
I initially took my signet ring in as the ring had worn thin and had bent, Cliff as an interim measure sorted out the ring so it was wearable again. I took it in at a later date and i was given two options as a suggestion, i took the option whereby a new more substantial band was inserted. I collected my ring at a later date and it was perfect, I cannot recommend this guy highly enough, my signet ring is like new again. Thank you very much for your work. Vyn.
Appalling service. Don't take your jewellery here. I dropped in a ring to be resized, I called to check in 3 times over the course of five weeks, being told I'd be called back then never was. In the end after no updates I decided to retrieve my ring. At bi point was I told even an estimate of how long it would take. I handed over the slip, and had to politely ask if the job been completed as promised - this information wasn't offered which was an interesting way to interact with a customer. The rude owner just handed it back, no apology or explanation as to why it was never resized. Huge waste of time, and cause of some anxiety. You can see this was the experience of another much more patient than I customer. I appreciate small businesses are busy, but the total lack of communication and any kind of customer service is odd and unnecessary. It's a very unusual way to run a business - take on work you know you will not have the time to complete, then fail to manage customers expectations in advance, or when they follow up. It's a shame as I had other items I wanted to take in. It's true that I did mention I would leave a bad review, I feel it's the least I could do in order to save other clients precious time. I was unable to do this immediately after the experience as I've been really busy with my work, intriguingly the owner responded to my comment within hours. Read from that what you will...... :
Really dissapointing service...i put my wedding ring in for repair in Dec 17, six months later still not repaired, despite numerous trips to the town and phone calls. Brooks does have a Quality workmanship reputation but I think he takes on much more work than he can possible do..not even an apology. Good news is I have left my ring with another jeweller today and it will be ready in a week also the cost for repair was half what I was quoted by Brooks.
