Well I happened to be on a tight schedule when I visited, but enough time to have a decent meal! The burgers here are so much better than everywhere else I've been to! I had the bacon and cheese burger and the pear pastry pudding. Both incredible.
OK, the one thing I would improve is their selection of cider, but we are in ale country and the bar is quite little, so they have to think in terms of beer first.
The staff were so friendly! It was no problem that it was new year's eve and I had no reservation, they just put me on a lovely little table and made sure I was well looked after.
So guys, this will be my first five star pub, and I think you need to go!

Bed & Breakfast accommodation reasonably priced. Great location, nice and quiet in a lovely rural setting. This pub is the centre of its community.
Food is great and homemade - menu not huge, but that means they can concentrate on making great food.
Breakfast was amazing too - cereal and fruit, and a cooked breakfast however you want it.

We'll the Masons goes from strength to strength. I do remember it when all it had going for it was a great fire in the bar! Had lunch there last week and was very pleasantly surprised. It wasn't packed, but quite a few people were in enjoying their lunch. We had mains and coffee, mine was an excellent burger, salad and skinnies. This was the nicest burger I've eaten for years. It just was. The menu was fairly eclectic with options for those of a vegan persuasion, but the crab cakes looked succulent and if my friend is to be believed very tasty.
Only downside is the brewery beer is Arkell's, need I say more.
