I recently visited this shop despite having a very difficult experience over a year ago. Stupidly gave the staff member another opportunity to provide a friendlier service. She was even more rude and unhelpful than before, presenting as uninterested and abrupt. The worst experience I have encountered in a shop. Not unreasonable to expect staff to at least be civil and to encourage less experienced knitters which would generate welcomed business. I’ll never return and have found a wonderful local alternative. Clearly I would advise against a visit to this shop. I ignored the many negative reviews to my cost.
My sister and I went in here with hopes of killing some time before something else. We spent a grand total of about 1 minute in there because one of the owners made us feel so unwelcome and was so rude. Maybe being so unwelcoming that people feel the need to LEAVE because they don't immediately know the way around your cramped store and you're staring at them isn't a good way to make money? Horrible experience will actively tell people not to visit her xx
A friend wanted to knit me an Aran sweater for a birthday present. Was told to select wool and colour at this shop. Went to shop, explained requirement and was pointed to the shelf for Aran. Was told this was the wool required for Aran. Chose and paid £36. Took to friend who didn't like wool 20% wool, 80%acrylic. At no time in shop was I advised of different qualities. Tried to take back same day, told by shop return was not their policy. Diabolical customer service and short sighted. Bye bye Marjory, hello Wool Haven.
Not only was Marjory so kind and helpful but the wool selection was exquisite and reasonably priced!! I had a great experience and it is definitely one my new favourite wool shops! Will definitely be back again soon!!
Yet another horrific experience from a very rude proprietor. I wanted to buy books that my daughter had taken abroad. Marjorie refused my purchase of patterns only despite the purchase of books was over £20 unless I agreed to purchase yarn. No wonder that Frances at the Wool Haven is so popular. Lovely lady, helpful. It is a joy to visit the Wool Haven.
My mum’s been shopping here for decades and has never had a bad word to say. Extremely knowledgable owners and she even recommends to her friends! Lovely to see the craft being kept alive.
I think this shop has the best range of wools and patterns in Glasgow. They know about their stock and help if you have questions about patterns or wool. There are always new patterns and wool. I bought the new Peter Pan Precious Chunky pattern and wool for a baby’s bunny onesie because it was so soft.
My mum visited Marjory's Wool Shop this week and actually felt upset at how badly treated she was. She asked me to make sure the poor attitude of the owner was made public, as a warning to others who might consider shopping there. She was rude, blunt and unhelpful. My mum said she actually felt close to tears after the visit.
Went back after having a bad experience a couple of years ago, nothing has changed... Rude woman never ever go back...thank goodness for the 2 other local shops who sell wool
Unpleasant rude unhelpful unprofessional staff never again. Next time I need wool I will take my business elsewhere. I don’t expect to get CHEWED OUT for wanting to buy wool!
