Nice station that is much improved from what it used to be a glorified building site. Now the tram stop and ticket hall look really clean and airy. The rest of the platforms not so much but they are alright. Many routes and good facilities but be wary that the trains will often be late or cancelled at short notice
Manchester Victoria train station is situated on Manchester's northern city centre side and surprisingly operates pretty much the same destinations as its more attractive neighbour - Picadilly. Why? Well, that is an answer for history, and a problem of capacity to bridge the two stations. Victoria is nevertheless an important link in Machester's historic railway story. The station would benefit from some restrooms on the platforms.
Manchester Victoria is indeed a transport hub for trains. One can easily find information through the different displays and from the ticketing offices. The staff are always available to help and give directions. There is also a self service machine for personnel off duty periods. The environment, buses and trains are very neat and tidy. There are cafeterias for light meals, snacks, and coffee. A lovely place.
Could do with organisation of Victoria and Picadilly properly. Bikes should be on bike racks like this picture and dogs walks not on trains, they have wheels and legs.
1 star for accessibility.nnNo disabled toilet facilities due to works. 5 stars for the passenger assist man who kindly waited with my mobility scooter and bag when I used the bathroom; thankfully I can mobilise with my crutch, the lady travelling at the same time was not as fortunate. The floor to the bathroom was being mopped, no wet floor sign that I noticed, and very wet.nnThe accessibility door to the passenger assist office isn’t easy to use. The button is on the left, the door opens on the right. Not easy to access the office on a mobility scooter. Once inside the office not enough space to turn; a fifty point turn ensued.nnI can’t fault the passenger assistance in terms of getting me to and on the train, 5 stars here, though do need to look at the location and the set up of the office.
